Post-graduating job possibilities are looking better than they were a week ago. If they get 100% of their budget, I have a job. If they get 80% of their job, I have to beat out someone else and neither of us is a favoured candidate from what I understand. It sort of bothers me that I am in competition with this other person. I did so much more than they did and my work is better than theirs (yes I should use his/her). It sounds like whining but it is true. I also have more government experience and my French is better (by the other candidate’s own admission). It's quantitative. I have hinted at that as much as I can (just reminding them what *I* did) without being obvious. I want to fight for the job but after sitting down with one of the more influential people in the unit (our manager is retiring this week), he told me there wasn't much that I could do except wait until the budget gets decided. So I will know more in March. Things are better here than they are elsewhere because Harper doesn't like cutting our budget (public outcry about him doing so in the past means he will cut other areas first :) ). Anyways, here is hoping. Otherwise there is a possibility I might work at a Pita Pit (Job interview: “So, no big G job. When do I start?” Oh yeah…I have the sweet hook-ups. :P

Long days are pretty tiring and I haven't nearly studied enough. I work 7:30-5:00 three days a week and then go to three hour lectures on two of those days. On my "days off" I tend to catch up on errands, sleep, and small school projects. I will get through but my social life will be non-existent until May.* But all this busy is good busy.

My biggest frustrations these days are:
-Government compensation. Even my boss is pulling her hair out. You took 4 months to get me my final pa ycheck and now you are sending me messages about not writing things on my pay sheet when they are there. :S (“Open the PDF again and read it”) I think I may see my first pay check in early March.
-Government computers. I probably waste almost an hour a day on rebooting and waiting for the dang thing to catch up. If I could have a day without 5 reboots I would be happy. No joke. I have a tally going on a post-it beside my computer. THERE IS A GB OF RAM! Why is it not using it? Word processors and small PDF should not cause these sorts of problems.

Hope y’all are doing well!

*May...oh you, sweet, sweet, sweet dream. I knew I was in for the long haul but it (and hopefully my post secondary career) will be ova! I will have my stupid Biochem degree. 6.5 years of post secondary and let’s hope it leads to something that doesn’t ask I go back. :)
