Picked up two new vinyl toys (ordered but they are not in):
- Camilla d'Errico's
Tony Tony Lollipop stitch, her submission to Mindstyle's 626 Stitch Project (see other customs
here and
here). I HAD to get it because 1-It's Camilla d'Errico, 2-It ships in Canada/she is Canadian, 3-It is Mindstyle, 4-IT IS MOTHA FRACKING STITCH and Lilo and Stitch may be the best Disney Movie EVER (YEAH~ WHUT?!?!?! WHUT YA GONNA DO ABOUT THAT?!?!)
- Joe Ledbetter's
Magnus and Friday Gradient Edition. I haven't been to keen on his latest works but the gradient version I enjoy.
About Avenue Q (edited from a FB post): I didn't enjoy Ave. Q as much as I thought/hopped I would. :S The set design was EXCELLENT, the singing was good and the lead actor was quite the puppeteer. The writing fell short. I am sort of over puppets being rude (I am a HUGE fan of "Greg the Bunny", dislike "Puppets that Kill" and that might have ruined some of it for me) and it seemed that puppets being rude was the punch line over and over again. Sort of wears itself out fast. Yup...another puppet masturbating joke. Got it. My opinion of the show may have also been hurt by guy behind me who kept laughing and repeating the "funny" lines: "Hehehe...the internet is for porn." (I think we all heard it buddy...also seems like you missed the Youtube Video). I did find the first song, "What Do You Do with a BA in English?", funny but after that it was downhill.
The Gary Coleman part was still in the show but it just made me sad and angry. :( But I am overly sensitive about poking fun at people who's lives are utter shit pits and no matter how hard they try, they can't seem to make it work. It just feels cruel especially because he is on record saying he wasn't happy with his likeness being used ("In 2005, Coleman announced his intention to sue the producers of Avenue Q for their depiction of him, although the lawsuit never materialized. At the 2007 New York Comic Con, Coleman said, "I wish there was a lawyer on Earth that would sue them for me.""). It puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Maybe I am just a snob now...I can accept that.
Still very glad I got the chance to go! :)
