Had a full two days off after a 6 day work week! It was super sweet (except for a little puke on Friday night...cough...Phil...) and I started it off by enjoying the last of The Clocktower's Pumpkin Spice beer. It was well worth the wait.
The Most Serene Republic at Zaphod's and Ahora w/ one of my favorite "couples" (I am picky about hanging out with couples.) did not disappoint! Pulled the usual "Go around with Ming and harass the band for autographs before the show" (You are welcome Kristin. ;) ). I love getting CDs autographed (Thanks Phil for buying the CD for me! :D). As I have said before, I like giving the artist the chance to sign their work. Despite the last minute change in the opening act, the show was great. I miss seeing shows at Zaphods. The crowds are fun and friendly* and I don't have to put up with the 18 minus crowd (/crotchety old person/). Would have enjoyed a full cover of "Closer" (NIN) instead of the little tease they gave us. "We don't promote Industrial" my ass... :)
*It's pretty chill because it is where the "uncool kids", myself included, go after High School, become hipsters and feel "cool." Less attitude. :)
THE OOD ARE COMING BACK! :D :D :D
I am on record saying that I am a huge fan of (I can't seem to find it right now but it is somewhere on LJ. Someone (Brian?) asked me what species in the Doctor Who universe I would be if I could be any species other than Time Lord or Human. I answered Ood. I LOVE the Ood. LOVE them. I was sort of hoping the Ood were returning but thought that I was reading too much into the prophesy spoken in "The Planet of the Dead" - "The Doctor's song is ending." We all knew the Master was returning ("It will knock four times.") but with a dose of Ood, I have high expectations. Deliver it Davies~! I believe!
DONNAAAAAAAAAAA~!!!!! Eiiiiiieeeieieiieiee. /jump up and down. I seriously cannot handle how things ended with Donna. I mentioned that I've been speeding through the entire series with Phil and when we watched "Journey's End" I sobbed for a good 30 minutes and needed to take a 2 hour nap to feel better. I have watched that episode three times now and each time I sobbed more than I did at the end of "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon". I even cried watching the Doctor Who Confidential for that episode. It's heavy shit and it doesn't help that she is my favorite companion**. Maybe this means she can remember and realize how special she is. /crosses fingers
**Yeah she is pushy and has a mouth on her but in contradiction of my usual distaste for loud female characters, I love her. She is flawed and not the brightest bulb but her growth as a character is well paced. She doesn't think she is anything remarkable and "yells at the world" to make it better. Donna ends up saving the world over and over, is the "most faithful companion," doesn't some silly infatuation with The Doctor and is great at knocking down the Doctor a few pegs which I think even the Doctor himself needs, respects and enjoys.
At least I only have to wait a month and a half for my next fix...
