I've been moving along my attempts at geekification of the girls by exposing them to the right sort of TV and movies. At the moment they're working their way through Sailor Moon, which Astrid is so-so on but Carys loves. I've run out of Miyazaki movies to show them for now (Princess Mononoke will probably have to wait a couple of years yet). So - any good anime suggestions?
I've been looking at various fan sites like Anime Cafe for recommendations, but I must confess I raised an eyebrow when they rated Ranma 1/2 as "suitable for kids of all ages". ORLY? The gender-bending is okay, but what about the dirty old man with an underwear fetish? I haven't really seen enough of the series to judge, is it too overt to gloss over, or is it okay? Hime-chan no Ribbon and Ah! My Goddess sound promising. Any non-Ghibli movie suggestions?
