quick update on my life because i have a paper to write for tomorrow and exams to study for that are on friday and tuesday :(
This past weekened I went home and saw my dad...yes, my dad. It has been 5 yrs since I have seen him, my siblings, aunt, cousins, and grandma. Unfortunately, my step mom has some serious cancer in the colon and liver and the doctors say she doesn't have much time left (unless, of course, the chemo works miracles.) -fingers crossed- I can not even begin to imagine how my dad and the rest of my family are dealing with all of this. My dad and stepmom finally bought their first house (something they were never financially able to do) in June, in July he was fired from his job, and in August Sara was diagnosed with cancer. It was hard to confront all of this at one time but I do feel that in times of need, families should be there for you, despite everyone's differences. I know this may sound kind of nuts, but ever since this weekend, I have slept so much better. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I am just so happy to have everyone back in my life. I feel that the one person I really need to thank for all of this is Stephen. He seriously is my support system and the most genuine guy I have EVER met. He supports me in every decision I make and has really helped me deal with all of this family stuff. My family is his family, and vice versa. During August, Stephen lent me money to buy my textbooks because my loan money hadn't come in yet- $220.00. Now he won't let me pay him back because he wants me to send that money to my dad. How many guys do you know would do that for you? Very few. He doesn't even want me to tell my dad it's from him. I can not wait to go home for Thanksgiving and see them all again, especially because they will get to meet Stephen. I pray to God every night that he sends us a miracle, if not I have learned in church that death is merely a change in one's life, not an end to it. This Sunday I will attend St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church and continue to pray for my family.....it feels so good to call them my family again.
