So, not only am I frantically working to stay on top of class prep for *this* semester, and trying to shepherd a research project along, and keep up with the students' work, and (in theory) work on my dissertation, but I'm also coming up with ideas for new classes to propose. Such as, "History of Discrimination in the U.S." Unfortunately it looks like that course is already offered by the U - it's less provocatively called "Immigration, Ethnicity, and Race in U.S. History," though. From its detailed description it's not quite what I have in mind, as 342 focuses on immigration and 19th-20th century history, while I was thinking of a longer time period with plenty of room for non-immigration topics. If I were to propose it, I'd have to justify having two similar courses in the curriculum (unless this hasn't been taught in a while - that's been known to happen).
Still. Academia. Even when I'm getting a little wiggy with stress, I love it too much to ever leave.
ETA: the competing course doesn't seem to have been offered since 2005.
