This is stunning. Because you went for the lack of detail, instead just an overview, it really enforced the idea of this time being a blur. It all locks in to the first part. Time passes so quickly in such a mess and yet it feels like it's stretching on forever.
It was heartbreaking, to be quite honest. It encapsulated everything that makes death death, yet it was personal. It wasn't just a stereotype.
I love how Bob was always there. Even as Gerard and Mikey helped.. it was Bob who was there. It's so strange.. he has no relationship with his parents. He has no family bonds. And yet he can see what Frank has and appreciate and long for it and love it, and have a small fraction of it as his own. He can mourn with his best friend and know he's hurting even if he has no personal experience.
I love your Bob. I love how he observes and doesn't say much. 'A fool speaks because he feels he has to, a wise man speaks because he has something to say.'
Ahh.. Death means forever. It's the only thing that can never be beaten, that will always go on. Life ends while death just begins. We should value it more. Life is this idiotic, speedy, brief, painful thing.. yet Death is this release. This relief. This ancient beauty.
.. GIMME A7X.
