Hooray for June!

I got my tickets for Wisconsin for June so I'll get to see Leila and Tim and meet Thomas! Yay!

One of the girls in my office taught English in Thailand for a year and LOVED it, so I'm definitely considering it for sometime in the coming months. I was thinking Poland so I could learn a bit more about where my family comes from, but then she mentioned Thailand and all I could think was, "Poland is really cold." Apparently you teach for 6 weeks and are off for 2, and basically you hang out on the beaches and eat really good food and scuba dive, and then maybe teach a couple classes. Then the cycle repeats. I could totally hang out on a beach for a year. That would be fabulous. Really, life is too short to deal with the bullshit in the office, especially when I'm 23 and happen to have a lot of really useful talents (like learning languages easily) but am in an office job that doesn't utilize any of them. The way I figure it is that I want a job where I can travel and see the world, and right now, being an English teacher will do that. I also figure that the people who have these great travel jobs aren't anywhere around here - they're out traveling. I met so many people in Japan, and I'm sure I'd meet a lot in Thailand also. Right now I really feel like this is without question what I should be doing, so I'm not going to fight that. I just have to replenish my bank account a bit.

My work started Weight Watchers on Tuesday and I decided to participate. I've actually lost quite a bit since November (it's amazing what a breakup can do!) and have been going to the gym and doing yoga. I never really weigh myself though, and I was kind of surprised at the number still on the scale - what was I before??? Anyway, I'm on the flex plan so I can eat whatever I want as long as I stay within my daily point limit, and I'm finding that it can get hard to actually get to that point level since I'm trying to eat better. Better food = less points. Sue and I went to Cosi today though because I really wanted pizza and the Potomac Pizza across the street is shady (people in my office found gum between the crust and the cheese). My individual cheese pizza was 19 points! My whole daily point allowance is 25! And it wasn't even a good cheese pizza. I get 35 extra weekly points though that I haven't touched, so I guess I'll use some of those today. I also lost some in Japan because I walked around all day every day and really didn't like the food. I gave myself a week off from the gym since my feet were in terrible shape when I came back, so that'll start back up Sunday or Monday, depending on how motivated I am. Wish me luck.
