It's Restaurant Week in DC. Pete and I decided to take advantage of it and go to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, which is normally wicked expensive but this week we could get a 3-course meal for $30.07 ($20.07 if you go for lunch). It was REALLY good - best steak I've ever had, and really good mashed potatoes. Everything was insanely buttery, and when I got home I realized that my body's not used to all that butter and started to react badly. I never eat butter - I eat the fake butter, generally in the form of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Lite. My stomach started to hurt and I actually thought I was going to throw up, which I don't think I've done since I was about 4. Even when I'm drunk or sick, I never throw up. But I haven't heard of anyone else having this reaction, and as far as I know, Pete was fine. We'll probably take advantage of Restaurant Week again, maybe tonight or over the weekend. May as well eat at some of the really good restaurants that we can't afford otherwise.
In other news ... there is no other news. Work's annoying since I still have computers that don't work, so I have to multitask and do a lot of things manually that the macros usually done. it's rather annoying. I'll hear back from Make-A-Wish probably tomorrow or next week regarding my 2nd interview. Pete's parents are friends with the woman who does the hiring and apparently she told Pete's dad that I had a REALLY good interview, without prompting on his part. So I may actually have a shot at this. Keep your fingers crossed for me! In the meantime, I'm really going to work on my writing sample today so I can send it and my resume to a couple places. I'd like to do something writing- or research-related for an environmental cause if this doesn't pan out.
And since everyone's writing about their New Years' Resolutions and I can't remember if I've done so already (and am too lazy to check), here are mine: #1: New job. I'm working on it. #2: Be healthier. I'm working on that too. I've actually been eating insanely healthy breakfasts - whole-grain organic oatmeal, herbal tea and sometimes fruit. I know. The oatmeal kind of tastes like ass so I need to get some Splenda or something to make it better. I feel like if I just put in sugar I kind of defeat the purpose of the whole-grain organic oatmeal.
That's it. I have a lot of work to do so I should probably get going on it. I'm not even going to get into Bush's speech because his plan is retarded.
