Ok, so after allowing this journal to lay dormant for what LJ informs me is 74 weeks (that's a long time) I'm feeling blog-ish this morning.
It's hella early. Actually it's really not. On my regular schedule I'd have already hit snooze once and I'd be getting up in a few more minutes.
But I digress, I'm on Christmas break and here I sit at 5:14 am awake and online.
Why? Because pregnancy does weird things to your body. Before I got pregnant, once I was asleep, I could sleep as long as I wanted. I could be woken and then roll over and drift off again. Now, If I wake up it takes at least 30 minutes to go back to sleep. Of course, I now wake up to pee 3 or 4 times a night.
Before I was pregnant, when my nocturnal husband came to bed and kissed me goodnight before rolling over to sleep himself I could wish him goodnight and go right back to dream land. Before I got pregnant, I didn't know that he only snores during the first stages of sleep. After 10 minutes or so of sleep there 20-45 minutes of snoring, then he relaxes into deeper, snore-less sleep. If I nudge him or wake him, the cycle starts over. Of course I now know this because I've laid awake next to him for many nights now.
Before I was pregnant, I had literally never had heartburn. Now, I keep a bottle of Tums next to my bed, in my purse, and in my desk at work.
So why am I up tonight? Well. . I had to pee around 3:45. Before I could get back to sleep, my husband came to bed at 4:15. And since not even the Tums could banish the heartburn ( maybe hot wings for dinner was a bad idea) I gave up and grabbed my laptop.
It's almost 5:45 now. I'm feeling a little drowsy, the hubby is through the snoring stage, and the hot tea seems to be doing the trick on the heartburn. Maybe I can go back to sleep.
