Contemplations of a troubled mind.

Life is full of ups and downs. That is simply the way of things. Where there is hope, there is disappointment; where there is triumph, there is failure. All things in life have a balance, and without the sorrows, we would never know the joys.

I have come to appreciate life for all it is, even though sometimes I think life is my one greatest enemy. Life is unexpected -- sometimes, life just tries to take you down.

It is in this fight, however, this constant struggle to 'get ahead' or 'come out on top' that I am able to consider what it is about my life that is even worth coming to fisticuffs for.

Faith is often a question of trusting in something you cannot see or touch. Faith is a frail and fragile thing, and as often as it fails, it also succeeds.

We cannot expect faith to always 'put out'. If faith responded to our every plea, there would be no miracles in life. Without miracles, humans would be missing out on something that is truly worth appreciating.

But it is difficult to continue to believe in faith when it isn't enough to achieve your outcome. As with anything, resentment can kill a good relationship.

How is it, then, that when faith fails us, we are able to pick ourselves up and trust in it again?

There is another element that comprises us as humans, and that is our ability to forgive. Though it is hard to forget those moments when faith wasn't enough, it is equally hard not to turn to faith when times are bad.

Life is built on faith, be in faith in God, faith in chance, faith in each other -- we cannot get away from the persistency of it.

Whatever the circumstance, somehow we persevere. And it is in this cycle that we learn what it is that we care about and what it is that we fight for. It is in this that we learn what it is that we live for.
