Tonight the world is an open sky,
brush-streaks of clouds, the heart
in my chest beating, the vivid
blush of a sun hurtling
into the ocean, my heart
with its glory and maniac joy.
The mountains
know me, the bright edge
of radiant water, the sun
where it sets knows
my heart, all thin
glassy ocean, all surface
and chop, rough dark turbulent
currents, the sun
stretches its fingers
into the green core of me
and my heart beats,
beats, beats, pulls
west.
