the RYLA experience

Sep 24, 2007 17:12

for those who are clueless, RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. and just after being there, i found out that it is a camp out leadership training. :P that RYLA kept me busy and away from my friends, my computer and TV for two days (last friday and saturday)

that training was held at Darasa, Tanauan, Batangas. we were way toooooooooooooo early for the registration. got ourselves there at 8am when the registration starts at 1pm. kumusta naman yon diba?? anyway, that time, i was already having mixed emotions and i really wanted to go home.anyway, hours later, RYLA finally and officially started. we were grouped into 6teams via our ID lace color. i belonged to blue team which later on became BLUE SPARTANS awhoo3x, subok na matatag subok na matibay!! we elected officers, grouped ourselves and set up tents at our designated sites. we then rehearsed for our team presentation that friday night where we won second place w/ 50points. that awhoo awhoo thingy is our team tagline w/c we shouted everytime our team was called. we won first place for that one. :P

whom did i sleep with? we were four girls in that tent but it was only two of us who really slept in the tent that friday night. how was my sleep? not well.. i think i yawned a million times the next day.

speaking of the next day, that saturday was more productive and a bit more fun than friday. i got not so close with my teammates but i got along with them. i participated in a number of competitions like amazing race  and POSTER MAKING CONTEST. do you believe that? haha! i was part of the ARTISTIC TEAM hahaha! and hey, our poster won 3rd place.. how about that haha! :P

i was enjoying the camping, it was actually fun. RYLA INDEED IS VERY FUN. :P but it could have been a billion times funnier if my friends were there and if i was not a LONER during the event. while i was still there, i wanted to go home but while we were leaving, i wished that i could have stayed a little longer. Labo ko noh? i dont understand myself too. :P

anyway, that RYLA taught me a few things:
♥ Never be impulsive. think about it twice or better yet, three times before you finally decide.
♥ Your bashfulness will get you NOWHERE. talk to them and make friends with them.
♥ Always be prepared. yea, just like a girl scout. get rid of your bahala na habit.
♥ It is not all bout fate. It is also about YOU. this might be the only time you'll cross each other's paths. why not move??
♥ A day without my friends already made me cry. WHAT MORE IN COLLEGE?? T_T

blahblahs, school blahs
