I am never sure if I will still be updating this stupid thing past another holiday, but alas, I still use my livejournal as a place to keep friends informed and vent. Mostly to vent.
So, I woke up bright and early to watch the parade with my dad, this is tradition, so I actually look forward to it. The only problem really is the fact that I make breakfast every year, and burn breakfast EVERY YEAR. After breakfast, I tried to get into the shower, but my mom was just getting ready to take a shower, so I watched shrek 2. I helped my mom cook, and my sister sat on her ass making her self seem important, but somehow, yet again I restrained from even thinking about the fact that she had done NOTHING to help, and dinner was an hour away. I knew my mental health needed a break before my Aunt Mary Jane got there. My mother told my aunt that dinner was at 3:30, to ensure that she will be at our house around 4:00, and as soon as she walked in the door, I grabbed the pans in her hands and begin the re-warm process as soon as humanly possible, because my father hates late dinner. As she was taking off her coat (at 3:45) she looks at me and actually says "I cannot believe that you mother does not have dinner ready AGAIN this year, she never can seem to get her act together." All I could respond with was, "you brought cold food for dinner, we have to make it warm again, dinner is late because you cannot seem to get anywhere on time." Quite possibly the worst thing I could have said, but damn it felt good. During dinner, my mom started to cry (like she does every year, but this year it was not because my sister and I were bickering) because she was so happy my sister and I were responsible adults, and my aunt turns to me and barks, "You have been feeding her drinks all day, it is your fault she is drunk." My mom had 5 drinks in 4 hours, and food, there was no way that she was intoxicated, just, um, happy. So after this incident, my sister and I keep as quite as humanly possible listening to my aunt preach my parents on catholic believes, and how my sister and I are direct products of people who do not believe. After about 10 minutes, my sister and I join the conversation, and the entire thing changes to our boyfriends. (Damn it...) Some how, by the grace of God, we avoided the "is he catholic" question. But I got tongue lashed because my parents have not met Denny, and my sister got tongue lashed for spending the weekend at her boyfriends house. This coming from the woman that lived with AT LEAST 4 men thought the course of her lifetime, unmarried, but she has seen the light, and is trying to "help" my sister and I avoid the same mistakes she made. (Horseshit) After dinner, we sit around talking, and my mom observed a new development, my sister and I tag teaming my aunt. After about an hour of telling us why we suck at life, she decides to get up and go to my Uncle Joe's, and we follow her about 20 minutes later. As soon as we get there, my Aunt Janet tries to feed us drinks and pies, and I was standing in the kitchen talking to my cousins and Aunt Janet, and Mary Jane just blurts out, "are you sleeping with him??" FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD AND FUCKING HOLY!! After pointing out that she just asked me an intensely personal question in front of 12-17 year olds (yes they know what you are talking about bitch) I just responded with "its not your concern where and when and with who I am sleeping with" This is the point of the evening that I start to hide, to avoid a serous explosion. As we are leaving Uncle Joe's, Mary Jane mentions that she will be coming back to our place, and the entire family got into the car, and just started to yell. My father went to bed (I think), my sister and I played a little game we like to call "Solitary Confinement" (If she hears more the one voice, she will find you) and my mom did her best to entertain Aunt Mary Jane. Around 1:30, she finally left, after looking through our sale papers, becoming the couch commando (I will admit this is a bad habit of mine as well) and telling both my sister and I to "be responsible with your virtues and hearts." The best is yet to happen though, cause she went to Meier to buy a TV at 6 am, and at 7:30 am called my parents to help her move it? Of course my mother told her to fuck off, and she actually called my cell phone next. I answered it, and more or less told her the same. So after totally ruining our holiday (congrads jenny on growing up and not personally ruining the holiday) and not leaving until 1:30, she calls 6 hours later to help her move a TV. Thank God I live in East Lansing
