We had only weeks to prepare for Otakon. I wanted to cosplay Shinjiro from the That's Right PV, but Jackie discouraged it because she didn't know how they'd react. ;_; Turns out, there was a Nissy and a Misako That's Right cosplayer. GRR. Even if AAA hadn't been totally into them, it makes me sad because I coulda been all "tralala we're Thats Right cosplay together"
Jackie has apologized many times now. XD;
When we arrived at the convention on Thursday, our first priority was getting in the room. After waiting a while for the pre-reg line to die down (On the website, it said there was no point in lining up right away.), we went and got in a much smaller line and grabbed our badges. Got back in the hotel room and played our friends Prince of Tennis game to ware off the boredom. The two of us weren't able to sleep until way late into the morning because our roommates were loud and inconsiderate.
But we still woke up at 6am to hurriedly get ready and get into the line for the convention. When we got in, we immediately found the location of AAA's concert (After confirming it with many staff.) and asked when we could start AAA's concert line.
The staff girl looked at us like we were crazy, saying "That's SO AND SO hours away." and we were like "Uh yeah we know kthnx." and she told us we could start it at 3:00 We didn't leave. We hung around that area until concert time. Because of that, we heard AAA's soundcheck several times. At one point, we went down and opened the door. xD Looked in and saw them. They were all wearing t-shirts, from what I could see. And what I remember most specifically was thinking, "NAOYA LOOKS SO SKINNY." Predictably, a staff guy came and shut the door in our faces. XD;; Awwww.
We "lined up" at 2:45. (But we didn't leave that area the entire time until then, so it was like we were waiting for a lot longer. X3) We got interviewed twice, or maybe three times. I saw later, one of the guys who interviewed us hanging around the autograph table and telling people they couldn't take pictures and stuff. o_O; We wondered (or worried, rather) that he was on AAA's staff, at that point.
There were MANY delays, we finally got into the concert and. *_* I had the best seat ever omg, it was basically the front row. (There was a row in front of us with two people in it which was reserved for staff/handicap people.) At where I was, I was RIGHT in front of (Gasp) SHINJIRO for most of the concert. *_* And - guys - that concert was the best thing ever. During it, being in such a marvelous seat, I was able to make eye contact with Atae many times! (But I feel bad, because I barely looked at anyone else.) Even during their MC session, they asked who could understand their Japanese, and since I could understand the question - and several other things they said, I shrieked and Shinjiro pointed right at me when he said "usotsuke~~~" and I think I died.
In an awful turn of events, right after the concert there was a sudden autograph session and we weren't able to make out exactly where it was. It worked out for the better I suppose, because it was certainly my favorite autograph session. XD
I was shaking like never before when we got to them.
In front of Nissy..
"DE. DE. DELICIOUS GAKUIN." Naoya looked up at me with an adorable expression that I'll never forget, "dai suki!" and Nissy looked up at me like "Hmmmmmmm? Ah!" then he held out my cd cover and winked, saying "De~li~cious!"
*shudder*
Now when Misako and Shuta were signing for me, I was shaking so bad and barely paid attention to them - looking only at Shinjiro. *feels so bad about that*. When I *did* get in front of Shinjiro, I told him I liked Kendama. And he stood up. And said. "EHHHHHHHHHH???? NAN DAROU?!" (he repeated that three times then added) "KENDAMA!?"
I couldn't reply. At least, I don't think I could. I tried to nod or say "hai" but I was shaking so bad that I couldn't, and I'm pretty sure I had tears in my eyes. He said something else, but I don't know if I understood it or not. I don't remember. I was just kind of dazed. Medifruit told me that Chiaki was shaking with laughter next to him, and that the two of them were look at each other. Even when Chiaki was signing, I was speaking to Shinjiro, telling him at Shugo was the coolest or something. He was nodding but he just looked shocked. (I think he liked hearing about Kendama more. XD) Dude, I'll never forget how excited he looked at the mention of Kendama!
Just to add, Shinjiro is much prettier in person then he is in pictures. His skin glows and his eyes (surprisingly not his nose) are his most notable feature by far - they are large and sparkly. VERY sparkly. It's almost alien how shiny he was. All of them were surprisingly prettier in person, but Shinjiro stood out. I wondered if it was Kansai skin.. lolz.
Oh yeah! Also, the poor girl in front of us accidentally gave Naoya a picture of Shuta to sign. He said "This is SHUTA". (in Japanese). She laughed nervously, apologized, and pointed to herself saying "Baka." He pointed back at her going "BAKA. BAKA. BAKA." XD .. He was very amused though. Awww.
(Actually, I say accidentally, but I don't think she actually knew. We told her just before which one Hidaka was, because she was saying he was her favorite.)
At Saturday, we once again got up at 6, despite having once again not got much sleep. We went straight to the Q&A line, of course. This time we weren't the first in line. We were fronted by some very cool Canadians. I felt really bad, because once we got in, I actually think our seats were better then theirs. They were really good seats again~~~ ("Front row" again, and also quite close to Shinjiro.)... BUT.. Because of where they were sitting, there was a clear shot of them in the manager's blog. (We were in it too, but weren't as clear.)
The Q&A was awesomely funny, Jackie got to ask a question. ("My question is for Urata-san?") He lit up when he heard that, it was cute. She asked him why he was the leader, and what were his duties as such? He said it was because he was the oldest, and that he didn't do anything.
Also during the Q&A, Shinjiro poked Urata for a bit then pointed in the direction we were sitting in. I wish I knew better, who was around me, cause I'd love to know who he was pointing at. XD;
Next was more autographs, and Shinjiro pointed at me and said "UWA" when he first saw me. And I did jumping jacks inside. I think I might have said something, but I don't remember... This time, I wasn't shaking and made it a point to look them all in the face. It was this day, I told Misako "Happy Birthday" even though it was late. I studdered. She was REALLY cute and said "ohh Sankyuuuu!!" with a really adorable expression. Nissy smiled at me too. *_*
And!!! The best thing ever happened!!!! Jackie was wearing Urapapa's keychain around her neck. He reached across the table and POKED IT. I saw it with my very own eyes, or I'd have never believed it. He looked so cute. Jackie was shocked and jumped back saying "Y-yeah it's you." LOL, I told her later "omg you had every right to poke him back."
We woke up early again on Sunday and it was the same deal. Went right to the line. Only one girl in front of us~. This time, Shuta gave Jackie an awesome handshake after signing his name (dumbly) in black on black. When everyone else had signed in silver, lol. XD Yeah, Jackie shook all their hands (cept Misako, who wasn't there.) When she did Shinjiro's, he said "ruaopwrkojaopjojaoj korudurururururu" and Jackie was like "O_O" because he was so desperate and seemed to really wanna say what he was trying to say. XD lol, and so he finally taps his translator who says "He's sorry his hands are cold." lol Jackie's like "O_O UH YEAH NO PROBLEM."
Shinjiro and me had a moment of pointing to each others hats, while I told him I liked his. It was weird. XD I also shook his hand, and it was very cold - tiny - and oddly shaped. lol, I didn't shake anyone else's hand because Hidaka was after Shinjiro and I'm telling you that he glared at me! (Really, his eyebrows just make him look angry.) So I was too scared. ;_; Besides, Jackie was rushing ahead of me.
I was sad it was over. Best weekend ever by far.
Saluted for our stalkerliness. Picture from the Manager's blog. We're circled. Yes, I'm clasping my hands. I did that alot.
