Backstory with Kristen?

Kristen's been here for six years. She says hello to everyone, including ickle firsties. She has to know you in some way or another! Did you have a meaningful conversation with her once about Crumpled Horned Snorkacks? Did she say hi to you in the hallway and you pretended you didn't hear her? Have you smacked her numerous times because you just ( Read more... )

Welcome to TG! We're so happy to have you here! I'm Madeline, getmeacampari, your co-mod (assistant to Molly) and rabid TG fan! If you hav any questions or anything at all you need help with, feel free to ask any of the mods over at the hih_dumbledore account!

AND NOW for backstory! XD

~ Avis Abernathy, avis_abernathy, 5th year Gryffindor, the insecure mardybum of the school, it seems. Stubborn, loud, boisterous and argumentative, she tends to be very, VERY abrasive. HUGE jealousy problem, really. . .oy, she's just a horrible brat who's only friendly to a few people :P I'll be frank, she's a mess :) But for her, it more depends on how others take to her for backstory. She might be a bit put-off by Kristen's friendliness, as Avis is SO very opposite, so I can mostly just see Avis being very guarded and "Er. . .why are you talking to me? I don't know you!"

Man, even after playing her for a year, I STILL don't understand her sometimes :P

LUCKILY, my others are a BIT more threadable!

~ Grant Tucker, eldest_tucker, 6th year Gryffindor, Australian, swimmer and nature boy, blunt and tactless and blatant. A bully to some (if not most), geeky and lame, but friendly on the whole. When he's not telling the honest, brutal, mean truth as he sees it. I think for the most part he'd tolerate Kristen, only to stop in the middle of conversations sometime and just be "WHAT are you TALKING about?!" He's harmless. . .mostly :P

~ Troy Frogley, frogleyoof, 7th year Ravenclaw, Head Boy, Quidditch Captain, serial dater, dumb happy oblivious jock who always accentuates the positive. His horribly inflated ego is very easily bruised, however, and may be a bit difficult (and whiny) when it is. I don't think that'll be a problem with Kristen, however. He thrives on other positive people, and can be a real sweetheart! (. . .When he's not whining or griping or punching Ben Connelly. . . :P)

~ Professor Cadogan Ferguson, prof_ferguson, History of Magic teacher, ex-Gryffindor and ex-Auror, stern and strong and silent and not the easiest teacher. Not a push-over at all, very true to his Gryffindor ties.

~ Maybe not as much as the others, but my UK comm character mike_kilbane, Mike Kilbane, Irish ex-Gryffindor and bartender at The Leaky Cauldron. Shy and timid when he's not bartending, finding himself at ease when he's on the job, maybe she's ran into him sometime in the past if she ever made a visit.

Lemme know of any ideas! Sorry if that was an insanely long backstory post :P

Thank you for the welcome! :D It's nice to meet you! (Or talk to you again from the Hogsmeade stuffs. XD)

Hoorah for backstory! :D

The more I try to put myself in Kristen's shoes, the more I see that she honestly must not understand personalities at all...or, rather, she doesn't care about people's personalities. So Avis being loud, stubborn, etc wouldn't be a problem to her. She'd try to talk to her anyway. Kristen would actually find her personality to be quite interesting. :P She'd eventually understand that Avis is guarded though and the attempts at conversation would lessen...a bit. She'd still try to talk to her sometimes though. Darn that friendliness. XP

As long as Grant would talk to her, she'd consider him a friend in a way. Even if he does only tolerate her. XD She wouldn't mind his honesty at all (I'm telling you, this girl is weird...) and would certainly prefer it to him lying. So yeah, I can see her talking to him about random things. :D She'd probably want to hear all about Australia from Grant and his brothers just because traveling and distant places excite her. Not sure of how they met exactly but yeah. Something. *brain dead*

Kristen would really like Troy. Again, she's odd and doesn't care much for paying attention to the personalities of people around her, so she'd really like talking to him. She does like friendliness and Troy is friendly (to people not named Ben Connelly *thanks Kristen's mother for naming her Kristen Hale*) so yay for Troy and Kristen. I've requested for her to be on the Quidditch team so if that's approved, maybe they met through Quidditch or something? Not sure. Yeah, 2:21 in the morning doesn't seem to be the best time for ideas.

Kristen would love Prof. Ferguson, Gryffindor ties or not. She loves History of Magic so she would simply like him because of it. She's less likely to insist on an adult talking to her so she's probably tried to talk to him once or twice but realizing he was more of the silent type, she just shut up for once. XD

Kristen would like Mike (oh, the rhymes), and talk to him the few times she goes to Diagon Alley. She's not one to just walk through the Leaky Cauldron to get to the Diagon Alley brick things without talking to anyone! XD So yes, she'd like Mike and probably try to talk to him when she had the chance. Encourage him in his quest for Ministry-dom and stuff. :D

The longer the comments the better, I think. :P Yay for backstory! If you have any ideas, that'd be awesome. I'm up for anything I'd think up better ones (things like encounters with trolls, dragons, pixies and things...that'd be one interesting thread) but my already non imaginative brain is all out of creativity.

:) I'm glad my post worked!! Nice to meet you too!

Sounds good for Avis! She's just finally now getting out of her whole "I'M REBELLIOUS AND SCARY SO DON'T MESS" attitude, or realizing how immature she really is. Maybe next term she'll warm up a bit and stop just staring and blinking at people who aren't in her. . .two-person close circle of friends :P We'll have to see!

Grant and Kristen would be classmates in certain classes where they're all combined, maybe they met in Astronomy? He'd probably feel more at home talking to her, since she is muggleborn and he lives a very muggle life himself (despite being Pureblood, parents tried to assimilate into the muggle world for protection from the Voldemort wars and all), so that would be another point for them to bond with!

Sounds good for Troy! Hahahahh yeah, he is nice, he just has a VERY, very fragile ego. One which Connelly and certain others seem to wound incessantly :P

He LOVES students asking for help, they're usually way too quiet and shy around him, due to that image he puts out. If Kristen went out of her way and asked for tutoring or help, he'd definitely love that!

:) Sounds good for Mike! Especially with summer threading! Just casual convo over the bar and all!

Hahahahahah oy, man, I fail with backstory involving specifics :P I remember when I first started, Avis met a bunch of people through them witnessing her freak out over the Giant Squid, but that's as original as I got :P

Kristen looks forward to Avis' warming up to people. More people to talk to! I find her amusing as she is but it'll be interesting to see her maybe have...THREE FRIENDS. *gasp*

Silly me. I hadn't even noticed that Astronomy was combined. That's great though! They'd definitely bond over muggleness, I think. Kristen would probably forget he was a pureblood occasionally, not that she pays much attention to blood anyway.

Kristen would happily cheer him up and try to fix up his poor ego when it's wounded. She wouldn't stand to see a friend with a broken ego. They wouldn't talk to her as much if they were all depressed...I mean, she's a loyal friend! *cough* XD

Oh yeah, if she ever had any problems with anything with the class, she'd go to him immediately. Arithmancy's one thing but she wouldn't forgive herself if she failed History of Magic, her favorite and best class. She'd love that he would love to help her too. XD

Hoorah! :D Kristen enjoys casual convo with friendly people very much. :D

Me too, I've noticed in the past few days. XD I'm like, "Um...well...Kristen ran up to them in the hallway...yeeaaaah." XD I love that backstory idea though! Anything involving the Giant Squid is pretty much awesome. XP
