Neil Gaiman posted this on his tumblr.

London in 1927.
Early colour film, and I watch this as if I’ve been given a window back into time. The women wear hats. Everyone wears hats. The police. The buses. The skyline…

How nice! This is brilliant, especially the melancholy tone the colour gives. I think this would be nice to show my students :)

Awesome. It's really eerie in a way to see colored film from this time. I've seen other pieces and even the WWII series in color on The History Channel which was really hard, but I thought important to experience.

Oh wow, that was amazing. :D The color images make it feel real and present in a way that black-and-white film can't quite capture.

Doesn't it? The color kind of pulls you into the moment and it is so surreal.

I adore this clip (I saw it linked somewhere else not long ago)as the colour makes the people seem *real*, just like us. Black and white always puts up a veil for me, creating a sense of *other* between now and then.

The color def adds a true sense of realism vs just this piece of old film. I like your distance analogy.

Thank you!!!
Very nostalgic..........I not only love the select footage but the soundtrack!!

BTW when I was a kid I remember distinctly that mom never went out without her hat and gloves
It was just never done!!
