There's some good character stuff in here, too. I'm especially fond of Keith's realization that Logan isn't Aaron, that his life is leading him elsewhere. Keith, I think, more than anybody, had a scary handle on Aaron's transgressions and peccadillos, and almost more than anything, that has to give a father pause to reflect. I think you're doing a good job of continually banging the rough edges off of Logan without turning him into someone he's not. I believe he'll always be somewhat brash, and prone to acting before thinking, but he's been through enough that his actions will show through purer in their intent, and less dependant on what he thinks others are expecting from him (whether he's living up to those expectations or defying them).
And then you have Keith throwing Señor Hall & Oats a bone (more of a meta-carpal in the case of Van Lowe, as opposed to the femur for Logan). You'd think that if Hades froze over there'd be something about it on the News! It's probably a little grating to Keith to give any praise to Van Lowe, no matter how faint or internal, but it's just like him.
You do a mean Vinnie. The dialog is nice, but more than that, I think you've captured his physicality pretty well via the narrative. There's a lot of subtle "acting" in his interchange with the former interim sheriff that would have made Mr. Marino proud, I think. Vinnie is the kind of character that has a tendency to steal the show when he appears, so it's wise to use him sparingly. But, as always, he's always so much fun when he does show up.
And your description of him? Well, I'm pretty sure you know where I stand on that.
I really liked the additions. Nice stuff that made a LJ read through all the more enjoyable. Thanks again for sharing, excited for #4.
P.S. Not really connected to the WIP 3, but I owe you big time for the Thao introduction. Rock, rock on.
