When Nostalgia Strikes....

Oct 07, 2012 19:12

So today is the day of Comic City Spark 7 and it's also my older brother's birthday. Anyway, I have huge list of requests for my proxy for the event and right now I am patiently waiting for his report. Well tying to at least. I do hope he was able to get most of it.

The waiting is making me anxious, so I distracted myself with opening up my still unopened figures. I also had a few new arrivals this past week.

First we have Protoype Bunny! I haven't finished building Wild Tiger and have yet to open and start with Bunny... orz Then we have Gakupoid. I have him displayed riding his eggplant. :3 Urameshi Yusuke from Yuyu Hakusho to go with my Kurama and Hiei. and lastly, Linkin Park Nendoroid Petit set. One is for myself and the other is my older brother's.

Besides that, I have been searching whatever I can think of in My Figure Collection.net. I somehow ended up searching the anime titles I used to watch and that's when all this nostalgia flooded in. I saw those mini Sailor Moon figures I had when I was younger, in fact I still have two of them with me. I also found entries of the Rurouni Kenshin ceramic figurines and a few Pokemons I have. They came all the way with me when we left for Australia.

Here we have Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars! <3 They look so dirty I should probably clean them. ><; They don't have their mini castle homes with them anymore because my dad wouldn't let us take a lot of our things or whatnot with us. He only let us pick a few which we could take. These two are the only two I managed to take with me. I remember that we used to have Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus as well, mine being Sailor Mars (my favourite), Sailor Mercury was my younger sister's, Sailor Moon was my youngest sister's and Sailor Venus we decided to get because my brother liked her. XD I don't quite remember why we didn't get Sailor Jupiter to complete the set... or maybe we did? I'm not so sure anymore.

They were released back in either 1993 or 1994? I can't believe they are actually that old and I still have them with me although they are quite roughed up.

My Rurouni Kenshin mini ceramic figurines. At first i didn't know that they are authentic until I saw the entries on MFC. :D They have faded considerably as I had them unknowingly displayed where the sunlight can directly hit them. T^T As indicated on the figurine itself, they were released back in 1996.

Pocket Monster Collection the handful I have. I didn't really get into Pokemon that much. Around the time the anime aired I was really into Rurouni Kenshin and Fushigi Yuugi. I do remember the Pokeball I had to catch them with too.

After all these, I keep remembering the old toys I had, I remember my red and white Hello Kitty toy telephone. It was battery operated and it was a set of two, which had a wire connecting them, it rings and you can talk through them from one room to another. I remember playing house with them.

I also had this Hello Kitty pretend doctor set with a red and white carrying case like a caboodle. I brought the case with me too, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I've wanted to search though the storage shed in the backyard for years but I'm too scared of the spiders or whatever creepers are lurking in there. I mean, this is Australia, we have Red back spiders (which I have actually witnessed kill and made a meal out of a huge as wasp) in our backyard and God knows what else.

So, I just kept on thinking and thinking about all these toys I had in my younger days like the vintage Polly Pockets, the mini caboodles and so on. Which then led me googling for them. >_< I can't seem to find anything about the Hello Kitty stuff I mentioned, but I did manage to find some about the Polly Pockets and the mini caboodles. But what got me so elated right now, is that I managed to find the Sailor Moon mini castle sets on ebay! *_________* Instant purchase even though it's the Korean release! Sailor Moon was missing though but I did manage to find an original Japanese release of her on Mandarake, I hope she's still there next week. :3

Looking back now, it seems like my whole life revolves around anime and manga and Sentai. I have always watched anime and Sentai unknowingly what it was while growing up. I think my first anime were the mecha series back then. I do know Voltes V quite well. As for Sentai... is Mask Rider considered as one? Then we have World Masterpiece Series for the Japanese animated classic literature like A Little Princess, A Little Prince?, The Secret Garden etc... I am only discovering now, how huge of a part of my life it is, I don't think I will be stopping either. I'm actually getting deeper into it, there's no escaping for me and I just welcome it. :)

figures, nostalgia
