The bike panniers I begged for for x-mas made their debut yesterday. Wow.. they hold a lot more than I thought they would. It was a very pleasant surprise. We rode around town and did a tour of all of the community gardens, went to the bike store (where I bought I shirt that has a bike on it and says "Sit and Spin"), got ice cream and turned in some library materials that I swear I turned in but obviously didn't. $8 in fines. Now I remember why I starting buying books in the first place.

$8 was totally worth the weather and the trip by bike. We met a really cool guy at one of the community gardens who actually moved here from out of state to go to law school and decided he liked it so much that he bought a house and is staying. We don't hear that kind of story very often. Usually people are chomping at the bit to get out.. hell, I used to be one of those people. Now I just go on vacation to get it out of my system because it really is a great place to live and muy affordable.

We enjoyed our bike time so much yesterday that we decided to bust out the big guns... bike shoes, fancy sunglasses and padded shorts... and did another 11 miles or so. Although we could have done more, we had a to-do list for the day that needed to be completed. My abs are oddly sore today. I don't remember them every being sore before from riding, so I'm trying to figure that one out.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I don't torture ANYONE with the sight of me in spandex... I am always covered with shorts.
