Well, it has been a solid couple of weeks since I last posted....and I'm still waiting! The company that I interviewed for the Accounting Assistant position never responded at all to me, which I find rude and incredibly frustrating. No phone call, no e-mail, not so much as a rejection letter. I understand not sending rejection letters to every resume that is received, but when you interview someone, you could at least send a rejection letter so they know for sure it's over.

In other news....I've had several more interviews since my last post, though none tremendously promising. I've interviewed with two staffing firms, two salons/spas, and a yoga studio. One of the staffing agencies has a lead for me at Northwestern working in the Anestiosology (sp) Department as an administrative assistant. This sounds a bit promising. I nearly had a position with an Aveda salon and spa in the city, but was asked how long I would be in Chicago. I couldn't lie and consequently was told the only reason I wouldn't get the job was because I was leaving in a year. I haven't heard back from that salon. The yoga studio seems very interesting. It is a part-time job as the Office Manager. I think it would be a really neat work environment and fit into my school schedule really well. We'll see what happens. She said she'd call by the end of the week and let me know either way.

Oh....on a happy note-I am officially a broke college student again. I was accepted into the Masters of Business Administration program at CUW about a week ago. Now it's time to look for money to pay for it. However, compared to other grad schools it is relatively inexpensive. In the end the degree should cost a little over $20,000. Not too bad. My textbooks just arrived for Business Statistics, so I am just getting started with that and hope to have it completed within the next eight weeks so I can move on to Economics and then some of the graduate-level coursework.

Jim and I have kept very busy...it seems as if each week just gets busier than the one before. We've had dinner guests at least once a week-usually from the church. Last week was especially hectic. Jim preached on Sunday of Labor Day weekend and then we went to the Donnovan's for dinner. We arrived there at 2 and didn't get home until just before 11 p.m.! We sat on Pastor's deck with his family and another couple all afternoon consuming chips and beverages and then had a fabulous meal followed by dessert and more beverages. It was a nice day. Labor Day we were supposed to go to one of the congregation members, Megan's, for a barbeque, but my allergies were acting up so just Jim went. Wednesday was an interview day with Bible Study in the evening. Thursday we entertained another couple from the church. Friday night we did a three-course fondue dinner at our apartment with the students from Westfield House in Cambridge that go to CURF. Sadly, Mark was not able to join us, but Julie, Ruth, Sarah, Aaron, Jim and I had a grand time. Ruth even put together a Westfield House film for us. It was great...though it made me really miss England. Sunday was the St. James Lutheran Church/School block party to kick off the programming year. Unfortunately, it rained all day long. However, we just threw on our warm clothes and enjoyed the band, brats, beer, margaritas and fellowship out in the street in front of the church anyway all afternoon long. Never a dull moment.

As stated earlier, I had an interview at the yoga studio yesterday, another at a staffing firm this morning, and another at a salon/spa this afternoon....I'm tired. There is a job fair tomorrow at Navy Pier, but I don't know if I am going to go, because those things tend to be cattle calls for commission based sales positions, which is not my cup of tea. We'll see how ambitious I feel tomorrow. Thursday night Crunch Gym is having a job fair. I may go just because it would be nice to work there and get the perks at a gym. Plus it is relatively close and an easy job while I am doing school....who knows.

So that is the scoop from the Windy City. Wish me more luck in the ongoing job search and pray that it comes to an end soon. I don't think my neck can take much more of it-I get horribly stressed and it all congeals in one little spot in the back of my neck. It hurts.
