I'm a huge fan of the Saw movies - all of them so far - and I'm running Saw II right now with commentary running.
I've never played commentary before. Always thought it would be annoying. It's not! It's fucking funny! This is great... you learn all these neat little things that happened while filming, thoughts that were going through actors' heads and stuff like that. Gonna go back with Saw and see what it has, and then with Saw III when the DVD comes out. There's lots of neat little facts about these movies on the Internet too, if you Google it. And IDW, my absolute favourite comic publisher for the past two years, put out a graphic novel prequel called Saw: Rebirth. I need to order that. Stat.
Speaking of comics... I'd like to make a little list of the series that I like but only have part of, and as I can afford it, gradually finish them. Banana Fish has been on the list for years...
Over 17k words for Nano so far. Maybe I can hit 30k before the end of Sunday... I'm eager to reach the 50k goal so I can do some drawings for it before I make edits. :3 Go Morrighan!
EDIT: Completely forgot to review Saw III after Rinny took me to see it on Halloween. <3
Spoiler-free paragraph:
We were SO stoked going in, but we were a bit disappointed in it when we left. It seemed like the gore and shock level was upped, but the brain teasing was lessened. More "Ew!" and less mystery. The more I think about the movie, though, the more I want to go see it again. :3 It was a bit disappointing, but I still liked it. (Just finished the Saw II commentary... on to Saw!)
SPOILERS AHEAD! Stop reading here if you have NOT seen Saw III! Seriously!!
Ok, I was really disappointed with the fact that Amanda "went rotten" (ie. fixed the traps so they were impossible). I LOVE that character and actress. She was PERFECTLY cast. I was damned disappointed that she was fatally shot, too. And poor John/Jigsaw/Tobin with his throat (appropriately yet disappointingly) slashed open. We know there's a Saw IV in the works, probably revolving around Jeff finding his daughter. I think this is kind of dumb... first off, Jeff was being tested throughout most of Saw III. Has he not "played the game" enough? More importantly... no Jigsaw or Amanda. Let's face it: if they survive what happened, that's pretty lame. But if they're not in Saw IV, that would also suck. Those two MAKE the movies now. :P (I suppose they could be dead for Saw IV, but with a lot of flashbacks involving them...) Anyway, yeah, I love Amanda/Smith and Jigsaw/Bell. Those two characters, and their relation, is great. I can't wait to read Rebirth!
Shawn and I have debated who exactly made those traps in Saw III. The tapes are Jigsaw's voice talking about the traps and stuff, so it seems like he did it, but Amanda had to have had a hand in it in order to rig them the way she did. The only trap she actually said in the movie that she made was the collar. However, Carrie/Myers made a good point at the beginning of Saw II regarding engineering degrees. Those traps were expertly designed, especially considering that they would have had to have been made with scavenged materials. Jigsaw was an old engineer, obviously. (He actually designed toys for a living in the prequel, or so I read. His puppet, "Billy", was one of his toys. :P I doubt Amanda was "that kind of smart", too. I think Jigsaw did them all (minus the collar, although I assumed that he would have at least helped a little :P). I mean, Jigsaw chose Amanda for a test because he saw her in the hospital. She had overdosed on cocaine, and he was dismayed that such a "bright" young woman would throw her life away like that. So, she was probably smart, and learning how to do all this from John, so the collar was probably the first one she did herself. For the other traps, all she had to do was switch the key with one that wouldn't work. Well, those are my thoughts, anyway.
Meanwhile...
Hunny, if I would ever help someone hide a body, you know it would be you~ ♥
Dear Santa...
Dear Santa,
This year I've been busy!
Last Tuesday I farted in an elevator (-6 points). Last Thursday on a flight to Bangladesh, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). In April I helped
rintaran hide a body (-173 points). In August I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). Last Friday I pulled over and changed
goodbyebartleby's flat tire (15 points).
Overall, I've been naughty (-212 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!
Sincerely,
kristallee
