So I'm working on a commission about how Raph and Mona find out they're preggers with Eva. It's a comic so you can only get so many words in there. I felt inspired to type up at least the first page even though I'm not a writer. I'm feeling pretty shy and nervous just because I'm posting it here ^^;
Eva is my OC and I have her storyline all saved in my head. I'm too lazy to write it all out but maybe I'll punch out a few chaps after this.
Positive. Three tests later and all were positive. She lowered the box onto the sink slowly glancing once again at the row of tests which littered the porcelain top. The box stated, occasionally the results might be vague and easily mistaken for a positive result. There was no mistaking the very visible plus sign...on all three sticks.
Mona slumped down the bathroom door and landed heavily on her rear. She murmured into her hands which were currently clasped over her face, "How did his happen?! We're not even the same species."
A few knocks interrupted her thoughts. "Mo? Ya in there? Wuz a mattah? You've been in there for a while now. You ok?"
"Raph?! I, uh, yeah! Just give me a minute." Mona stood and scrambled to rid the sink of all papers and boxes. She opened the tap and quickly washed her face. "Raph? Do you think you can meet me in the room? I...have something I need to talk to you about."
"Yeah, babe but you're kinda makin' me nervous here. You sure you're alright?"
"I'm alright, Raph. Just meet in the room. I'll be right there."
Outside of the door, Raphael stood a few seconds longer. He knew something wasn't right. Not only had Mona been in the bathroom for an hour but he knew he had heard stifled crying. He decided that he would question her at some point during their "discussion". He wasn't even sure what she wanted to discuss. Everything was great. Their relationship had been going strong for a couple of years now without any major arguments. It was a nice change from dealing with his brothers for twenty years. If he would have known that bringing home a girl would have made his life calmer, he would have done it sooner. Because it's so easy to do...right.
Stepping into his room, which was now technically their room, he sat on the bed and tried to ease his nerves. His overactive mind leading to thinking of discussion topics.
"What if she wants to move out or sumthin'? Maybe things ain't as good as I was thinkin' they were. I shoulda known. When has my life ever been easy. This was just too good."
Mona slowly opened the bathroom door and peered out, making sure there was no one in the hall. She wasn't in the mood to explain herself to anyone other than Raphael at this point. That alone was proving to be difficult. How was he going to take this news? "Hopefully, well.", she thought, "Think positively. Things aren't so bad. It's just a baby. A MUTANT baby. One that I don't even know what its going to look like!"
The open door to the bedroom greeted her and she saw him seated on the bed with a peculiar expression. "He's probably nervous. I should say something to lighten the mood."
"Hi, Punkin!" "Yeah...good one. He's not going to pick up on how fake that sounded."
Raph looked up, startled by the sudden cheeriness. "We startin' with the gay pet names already, Mo?" Chuckling, he regarded her posture and noted how insecure she seemed. Much different than her normal demeanor which was a little too confident at times. He straightened and signaled for her to sit next to him.
"Really, Mo. What's da matter? You don't even look right. You sick or sumthin'?"
The irony. At the moment, she was feeling, nauseous, bloated, and tired...but not sick. "You know how when we decided we were going to...to finally-"
"Fuck?"
"...must you always be so crude?"
"I'm just playin' with ya, babe! Ya lookin' like Donny when he's gonna explain one a his theories of how dinosaurs became extinct or how turtles will dominate the world. He's fuckin' weird."
"Uh, Right. Well, this is important. Can you just listen?" Her face gave way to a serious expression which he understood as 'cut the shit'.
"Okay! Geez. Testy today. Go ahead. I'm listenin'."
"Yeah. So ANYWAY, when we decided to become...more serious, I told you that contraception wasn't necessary with creatures such as ourselves. Our DNA structure is not biologically compatible and would never lead to procreation. One thing I never factored into our unique situation is the fact that the same mutagen that affected our composition might have also changed the DNA structures to such a degree that they're-
"WOAH. Hold on there, genius. I don't speak Donny. Ya gonna have to slow down and take out all the fancy words. What EXACTLY are ya tryin' to tell me? Are ya sick or not?"
"...I'm not sick, Raph. I'm pregnant."
The silence was deafening. Mona watched Raph's expression change from slightly confused, to understanding, to sheer horror. He had yet to say anything.
She cleared her throat to gain his attention. Unsure of what to say, eloquence was tossed to the wind as she said, "Umm. I know this is a lot to take in but-"
"Are you fuckin' KIDDIN' ME!" He suddenly shot up to stand and towered in front of his seated girlfriend. "You TOLD me not to use anything. YOU were the one that said nuthin' would happen. Now THIS?! What the FUCK am I supposed to do, huh?!! Mastah Splintah is gonna kill me and Leo is gonna talk my fuckin' ears off. I get to look like the asshole because you're the SMART one who said we wouldn't need to worry 'bout nuthin'!"
She stood in front of Raph who seemed to be done with his exceptionately loud rant and proceeded with her own, "That's not fair! Don't you dare blame this on me! Last time I checked, you were a willing participant and never protested against not using protection. All of a sudden you're so high and mighty. This will hardly even affect you!!! I'm the one carrying around some fre-" She quickly silenced herself as she realized what she was about to say. That was not a word she used freely, especially around him.
With a sudden subduedness, his expression paled. "What? Carry my freak kid? Is that what you were going to say? Last time I checked, MONA, you are a fuckin' freak too. It ain't all my fault."
"Raph, I'm sorry. I didn't mean-"
"Whateva. I can't deal with this right now. We're DONE here." He strode over to the doorway as Mona managed to grab his arm.
"What are you saying?!" Tears began to sting her eyes as she realized that the conversation was ending on a very sour note. "You're not saying what I think you're saying....are you?"
Raph never turned around but managed to turn his face enough to see the worry in her eyes. "I didn't mean to say...Look, I need some air. I'll be back. Don't wait up." Once he headed out of the doorway, almost immediately she heard the sound of the entrance opening, closing, and locking.
"That was really good, Mona. Not only did I manage to upset him but I also angered and offended him. I'd be lucky if he came home tonight."
Now she allowed her tears to fall. Her face felt warm and hot from all of the sudden emotion she had felt within the past few hours. Never had she imagined that she'd have a baby within these conditions. Living as a mutant, in a sewer, with other mutants.
"I need to talk to someone but...what do I say?! I'm sure Raph wouldn't want me to go to Master Splinter. Maybe Don? Uggghhhh..."
She stilled and laid upon the bed. Her eyes drawn to the ceiling while she imagined a better version of the argument she and Raph just had. "He practically broke up with me! Where will I go? Did he even mean that?! MEN. No matter what species, they're all the same." Her eyes began to close as she relaxed. Hopefully, Raph would be home soon.
So I hope that was somewhat bearable. I do have another chapter in mind but who knows when that will turn up.
