Life.. or something
So yeah, I promised a real life, honest to goodness post. Not that it would probably do much good I know most of you bastards don't read me :) though I do love the ones who do.
Anyway so we are living in our house and loving it. The payments are a little steeper than what we wanted (stupid interest rate hike) But still very manageable. I finished my year at Jordan High school pretty successfully. 100% of my students passed the state exam and I had one student go to state competition in prepared public speaking.
A little after that my good friend Sarah called me and asked how I would like to teach at Southern Nash. I was pretty shocked. It is one of the top agriculture programs in the state. Its a 5 teacher program and it is 12 month employment which equals a significant pay. I was only working 10 months which is never really true for an ag teacher since we end up doing FFA stuff all summer anyway and just don't get paid. Technically, most ag teachers are supposed to be 12 month but many school districts have started taking that away. So after alot of tears and thinking I decided to go into Jordan and resign. I hadn't signed my contract yet so it wasnt too big of a deal.
So now I am at Southern Nash. Some things I love, some things I really miss from Jordan but overall I think it will end up being a good fit for me at least for now.
Which leads to my other big news!!! One of my professors called me about being able to keep all 36 hours from my Masters degree if I signed up for classed this fall and started working toward my doctorate. So I am now enrolled in the doctoral program. I am a little scared but overall really excited. the course work will not to much more difficult (other than the dissertation). Unfortunately, this does mean more time. But I think it will be great when it is all done. Thought that will probably take me about 6 years since I can only take a class a semester.
Anyone want to donate about $40,000 so that I can take the year off and be a student full time???
The puppy is doing well. He is very over excitable but too damn cute for his own good. I will try to post pics soon.
Sean and I are still disgustingly cute.
and School starts Monday .....

I wonder if students ever realize that teachers are just as nervous and excited the first day as they are? One cool thing though, I get to teach Floral Design :)
