Supernatural 5x22: Swan Song, The Vampire Diaries 5 x 22

So, I've been feeling a little "meh" about this season in general, dreading each episode a little bit because of my complacent reactions. I've been interested to see where it's going. I remember why I loved it in the first place, but a little of the passion had died.

That said, this was a fitting finale. I wouldn't be unhappy (double negative and all) to have the series end here. I always figured one brother would be gone in the end, and one would try apple pie. I think it worked that it was Sam. The angel-juice-resurrections at the end were a little too convenient for my taste (which has been my problem through most of this). The author-insertion, self-aware aspect to the writing via Chuck was expected and more or less put everything into a tidy, egotistic-writerly package-- it's been more overdone in previous eps. I dunno, it worked for me. It left enough open ends and enough tied up ones. As for the rest of the story, as far as I'm concerned--

That's for the fangirls.

Ironically, I'm more relieved than anything that it's done. I think I'm done watching, anyway. And I feel like I have some closure on the whole thing.

(Then again, I thought I was done with Buffy after season five as well...)

As for The Vampire Diaries, this show is so much fun. I thin Damon knows that was Catherine (it's in her kiss). I can't wait to see her try to ruin Elena's squeaky reputation. I was surprised there wasn't more fallout from Bonnie's betrayal, but more importantly, I'm SO GLAD she's back (and playing an active part).

I can't decide whether I think they're going to really turn Jeremy. It would be interesting. Bonnie would have to fix him up with some bling.

I guess we just have to wait for next fall for more of Damon's eye thing and Stephan's cro-mag brow. But it's definitely one of my guilty pleasures to do it.

In other news, I had another sit-down with my boss. This one left me feeling a lot better about stuff. It was much less: this is your problem, too. And much more: I guess your internmate really *does* have a problem. Sadly, he said we were going to go down in the record books as the civil war of interns. As someone who pretty much gets along with (or can be professional towards) just about everyone, this is not exactly how I want to be remembered. But oh well. Seventeen more days and thirteen more overnight shifts.
