First, the Kentucky Oaks runs today. Blind Luck seems to be the general favorite. Personally, I like Jody Slew and Quiet Temper. One more hour 'til we have a winner!
And if today is the Oaks... tomorrow is DERBY DAY! My picks? Dean's Kitten for... uh... obvious reasons. Also, I like the way Line of David runs (we'll see how he handles a wetter track), Paddy O'Prado, and I think Conveyance might have some tricks up his sleeve. Top picks are Lookin at Lucky, who hasn't raced much back east and Awesome Act. We shall see!
Sadly, I won't be drinking mint juleps because, happily, I'll be running my own race tomorrow! It's the 200 mile, 12-person, 30-hour relay from Napa valley to Santa Cruz. Here's hoping I trained enough through head colds and overnight shifts...
- THIRTY DAYS cannot past fast enough. I have good moments, still, but have grown so sick and tired of the double standard around here, between the way they treat me versus my internmate. I don't know if it's because he's a man, because he's a schmuck with zero collegial aptitude, or because he's built a permanent nest in our boss's ass, but it's there and I almost don't have to take it anymore.
- And a note to any supervisors out there: "Just suck it up" is about the WORST advice you can give to an employee who is being victimized.
- I just shipped 18 boxes to a friend's house near where I'll be moving.
- I work 20 of the next 32 overnight shifts and they STILL imply that Justin is doing great favors by covering my shift the weekend I go to my MOTHER's GRADUATION.
- I have watched Avatar apporximately 8 bazillion times since it came out on DVD. Still love it. Predictable isn't always a bad thing.
- Still don't know where I'm going to live in four-odd weeks...
- But I did get a license to work in the state.
- Henry ate the trash this morning (oh, the joy of dogs).
- I finally saw the end of the tenth Doctor Who, and the first two eps of the eleventh. Not gonna lie, I like him. And I didn't entirely understand Tennant's exit. It seemed more "how can we cram more angst into this series" than "how can we bring it to any kind of logical conclusion" But that's just me. Oh, I think Annabelle Pond is DARLING! Though Martha is still my personal favorite companion.
- I think I will take most of the rest of the afternoon off, since no one here thinks my presence is worth that much anyway.
Anyway, enough of the brain-dump. Have a good one, duckies! Let me know who you pick to win!
