A Feast in Azkaban by
Nyxfixx because I am officially blown away.
nyxfixx explores the nature of Azkaban for the twelve years that Sirius was trapped there. She deftly tackles the relationship between the prisoner and guards -- and I have never read such a fascinating characterisation of the dementors. Come to think of it, I've never read a characterisation of dementors at all. She studies the nature of the animagus, the lines where animal and human meet. She delves into Sirius' relationships with James, Remus, and his family. She approaches them from an often unique angle amongst fans -- especially R/S writers.
She shows us snatches of Sirius' life that made him who he is. Some of them are dark, some tender, some had me giggling at my screen. But in all, she writes with brilliant strokes, naturally and effortlessly bringing the story to its foregone conclusion.
A brief excerpt:
The prisoner, Sirius, is becoming our favorite. Only rarely before in our tenure here in this domain have we taken consideration for the well-being of any of our charges. Never before have we begged any prisoner to do our will. It is a new thing. And never before has a prisoner refused to obey, despite our compulsions, despite even our begging. This too is a new thing.
There is a shortage of new things here in on our island. We are fascinated by this prisoner. We thrive on him.
And we have begun to suspect that he thrives on us as well. On opposing us all. He has started to eat once more; he now sleeps from time to time, we are now convinced that he will live.
Warnings of very mature and potentially disturbing content (although handled more maturely than by most). Also, the chapters aren't crosslinked, but the story is complete and posted in its entirety on her journal.
Second, The iCons
So, these iQuidditch iCons have been eating my brain, and I finally got enough of them done to string together a little posting. Basically, I made each position in each team's colour, so pick your favourite position (wink wink) and your team. Play quidditch. YaY! Sport.

And finally, can anyone recommend me a webhost? I'm currently paying $4.95/mo on Yahoo for only 25mb of space that is very nearly full, and I'd like to find somewhere else. The best I've found so far is $7.95/mo for a domain name, 3 gigs of space, and a fair bandwidth. But I'd love to go with a service people know and have had good experiences with.
