Day 9
Season 2 was all about separation and reunion, over and over again. Mulder and Scully, losing each other and realizing the depth of their attachment, already. Separated, but working together. Abducted and returned. Nearly getting his ass killed in an icy cape. They were more comfortable with each other, able to joke together, smiling around the tears.
People have commented on why "The Host" was in the Revelations DVD set, as the others seemed so overtly shippy. Perhaps it's because it's supposed to be a scary ep...it kept me from ever going in a port-a-potty EVER AGAIN. But there were also those conversations on the bench. Mulder and Scully, trying to work together despite being separated. There was so much longing, their need to play off one another and connect. It was an ep that showed the depth of their devotion to each other, in flashes and flares, all around the flukey guy. ;)
