The Weather Here

It's been awhile since I've written about the smoking thing. On June 26th it was six months since I quit.

So, yeah. It's fine. At the library yesterday I moved from one area to another because there was this guy who smelled very strongly of cigarettes. I don't go around making faces at smokers or anything. I just avoid them. They stink and I am glad that I quit. That's it, really.

So if you are out there, somewhere, reading this and thinking about quitting - do it. You'll smell better and live longer. Everyone who loves you wants you to quit. Because they love you and want you to be around for awhile.

It will suck at first. A support system of encouraging friends will help enormously during the sucky phase. The sucky phase will end. And then you will have the rest of your life to not stink and to take care of your lungs so that they can heal. You will feel better. I promise.

I don't have a magic secret to quitting. It seems to be linked to one's level of commitment to this life and desire and hope for happiness in it. I'm just saying.

You do it because you love yourself. Sometimes being loved well by another allows us to loves ourselves more, and that can be what it takes to break the cycle of addiction or self-harming behavior.

Good luck and big love to all of you.

Peace,

~KM

P.S. Thank you, Parkaboy, for being first my catalyst and then my support during the sucky phase. And for never getting tired of saying, "I am so proud of you." I am blessed to have you.
