This is the first year I’m actually doing the process from the beginning. For a few previous editions, I had done the New Year’s Resolution. Last year, I was a late pinch-hitter who was stunned by the lovely treats I’d received from writers on such short notice. This year, I finally felt confident to post a letter and actually try to get matched.
GENERAL
Things I Like:
The more people involved in a story, the better. I like subplots and side pairings but I get if that’s not possible in a thousand words. “A Day in the Life” kind of story. Friends to lovers. Complications.
Things I Don’t Like:
Please stay away from real life tragedies. 9/11 is an especially sore point, as I grew up just outside New York City. As I have requested a “character” who was personally affected by a school shooting, absolutely do not go there, either.
A/B/O. It’s just too complicated here.

See the icon? You may not believe me but that is Andy Murray. Jokes are made about him having “no personality” but I don’t find that true at all.
I am actually fine with pairing Andy with anyone but I did request Rafa for a reason. I especially love the idea of dealing with this slumping version of Rafa that’s existed in 2015. Maybe it’s a coincidence that it became worrisome when Andy beat Rafa so easily in Madrid. Maybe it’s a coincidence that Andy got married this year. Even though they’re only a year apart in age, Andy has clearly used Rafa as a model for what he’s wanted to do in his career (find "The Man Behind the Racquet" doc for Andy's parents talking Rafa). Or go the AU route, that’s perfectly fine as well.
It is totally canon that Rafa pranked Andy by having Andy believe another woman was texting him (Andy’s version: vid 1, Jonathan Ross interview; Rafa’s version: in doc mentioned above).
Now I understand it’s likely we matched because you picked a bunch of players and you have no interest in this pairing. I’m flexible. You could write a friendship story. You can change the pairing, though I ask you please have Andy as a main character (see above: any pairing involving him is OK - you can even go beyond the tag set). I’m not all that keen on Federer/Nadal but if it leads to an ending that’s either Roger/Andy or Rafa/Andy, that’ll work.

NewsRadio was a sitcom in the mid-90s that took place at a radio station that was set up more like an office. My actual introduction to the world of fanfic was reading “lost seasons” of this show (they got eaten when geocities went goodbye). I knew if I ever signed up for yuletide, I would have to make a request here.
I love Dave Nelson - this is a byproduct of my younger crush on Dave Foley thanks to Kids in the Hall. Foley is one of those actors who nowadays keeps guest starring on popular comedies (The Middle, It’s Always Sunny, Hot in Cincinnati) and getting added to the cast of lousy shows (in 2015, he was in the cast of both The Odd Couple and Dr. Ken). This makes me sad.
Sorry about the diversion. The request itself. I just want to think of a time when that guy from Wisconsin (who is NOT a Canadian spy!) is a star again. Whether the fic is Dave/Lisa, Dave paired with someone else (as Lisa did marry Johnny), a different group of crazy coworkers, day in the life, dealing with Jimmy James weirdness or Bill McNeal’s ego, his arcade addiction, his coffee addiction, some other addiction, a weird AU - this is a show which did an entire episode in outer space!

Clone High was a 13 episode series which aired on Canadian and, later, US television in the early 2000s. They were high school clones of figures in history. The main characters of the show are Abe Lincoln, his dream girl Cleopatra, his best friend Joan of Arc, popular guy JFK, best bud Mahatma Gandhi. Other historic figures in the series include George Washington Carver, Marie Curie, Vincent van Gogh, Catherine the Great (or, as JFK referred to her, Catherine the So-So), Napoleon (who is on the basketball team). All of the episodes can be found on youtube, if you need a refresher.
I want anything that could fit in this world. What happens when they apply for college? Who would care about having a life like their predecessor? Who else is in this world? (this is a list of the entire cast) What happens next in the love triangle? How does JFK deal with tragedies of Kennedy members?
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I posted this last for a specific reason… and it’s not due to preference. In the general dislikes field, I wrote that I disliked mentioning real life tragedies. I take that back regarding this particular series. The show works well in being misinformed about hot-button issues. Whether they want to deal with the Oil Crisis or Gun Control, it works within their context. I do not mind if you go beyond any and all lines.
As for fic, I like when Mac and Charlie bounce off each other. Slash between them is okay, though Mac’s homophobia would have to be acknowledged. They could be giving the other love advice, whether about Waitress, Dee, or someone else - any pairing (including incestual) is fine. Maybe Mac gets Charlie outside of Philadelphia. Maybe they join forces to screw Dennis over. Maybe someone actually holds onto money for more than a few minutes. I would prefer fic in the style of the series but they do fantasize a lot so an AU could be worked within that context.
