As a quick update I still have that head splitting pressure feeling off and on even though I'm on Sudafed and now I have a cough that's just THERE but not doing anything, and my chest has gotten tight. Lurvely. But anyway...
I just saw a deviation over on DA with a picture of Stick Stickley crying and the text "Keep Nickelodeon Awesome".
It's nice to know I'm not the only kid who was, like, obsessed with Nickelodeon growing up. Those shows were the shiz. How many of you remember shows like Hey Dude, You Can't Do That on Television, Salute Your Shorts, Rocko's Modern Life, the ORIGINAL Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, All That (welcome to Good Burger home of the Good Burger can I take your order HEH!), Weinerville, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Double Dare, What Would You Do?, Pete n' Pete, Welcome Freshmen, Wild and Crazy Kids and Are You Afraid of the Dark? How about SNICK? I haven't watched Nickelodeon in years since they've taken all that good stuff off the air and replaced it with crap like Fairly Odd Parents (I'm sorry to any fans out there, but I cannot stand that show) and other such ba-blink ho-hum cartoons with crappy artwork. Whatever happened to serial type shows like Aladdin, Gargoyles and Tale Spin? Surely not all kids' attention spans have reduced themselves to less than 15 minutes.
I remember every saturday night it was a tradition that my parents and I would turn the TV to SNICK, turn out the lights and watch Are You Afraid of the Dark?. That was a damn good show with good stories, good enough that they even kept my parents interested. Along that same thread but on a different network (I think), anybody remember Eerie Indiana? How about GhostWriter? I still remember the theme to Are You Afraid of the Dark, as well as Salute Your Shorts. And I can still remember all the main characters' names, too! The reason my bedroom back home looks the way it does today is because of Clarissa's bedroom on Clarissa Explains it All. Yeah, that show Melissa Joan Hart did before Sabrina the Teenaged Witch. I must have seen every episode of those shows ever made when I was a kid, and it saddens me that none of that good stuff is on TV anymore. Nick has gotten so crap-tastic in the last few years that even my niece has never really watched it, and she's ten! That's prime Nick age.
I know Nick has several branch off stations out there now for some of their older stuff, but they really need a network similar to Boomerang where you can get all those shows that people my age grew up on. I would totally watch them.
Somebody needs to start a petition, dammit.
