Regardless of whether you have a valentine this year or not, remember that Valentine's Day is not just about romantic love, but about the love we live and demonstrate to all around us.
LOVE IS A VERB.
The number of homeless individuals in Atlanta on any given day varies from 7,000 to 12,000 - and every morning thousands of people wake up with no place to call home, no place to sleep, no place to eat. About 20% of the homeless are women, and 770 are children.
Homelessness occurs for many reasons, including the breakdown of fragile families, addiction, serious medical problems, mental illness, family violence, unaffordable housing, and loss of employment, but in each case the first remedy must be other people willing to help. Just think, given the right circumstances, that could be YOU.
I urge you this Valentine's Day to put down the Godiva, and leave the flowers and cards behind. If you really want to show true love, give to your fellow man.
Leave a light and hope in his eyes.
Offer a child a reason to smile and be alive again.
Vacate reason to warm a desperate mother's heart.
Elevate the spirits of those who have fallen.
This is our calling as a human race: to love our brother as ourself.
Bring your love to a life today.
Love and blessings,
Krisalyn
