I am home from spring break and now the second half of the semester begins.
Spring break was absolutely amazing and the best trip ever. The first half we spent in Kakadu National Park where we drove around in a land rover with 8 people shoved in the back in 40 degree heat and no AC. Needless to say we quickly bonded. The 5 other people on our tour were so great and that is what made the trip so much fun. The 3 days we were there we hiked in different areas and at the end of the hike there would be beautiful rock pools or plunge pools to swim in for a couple of hours. At night we camped out under the stars in swags but unfortunately we got bitten by mosquitos.
After our 3 days in Kakadu we flew to Alice Springs where we spent a day before we left for our second tour which was in the Outback - Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and Kings Canyon. Our day in Alice was quiet but had we had an amazing time including holding baby joeys at a kangaroo rescue center. Our tour of the Outback was fun but a lot different than our Kakadu tour. THis time there were 14 people and 8 people being BU people so the group dynamic was different. The group did not bond as much but it was probably because most people were travelling with other people unlike in Kakadu where everyone was solo except us. While the group wasn't as fun, it was still a good time and I can now say that I have seen these icons of Australia. We got back last night and the four of us celebrated the end of break by going to a Korean restaurant where you cook your own food. It was really good and a fun way to end an amazing week.
Overall the trip was an amazing adventure and I am so glad that I did it and with the people I went with. The two tours were very different since Kakadu was fun because of the experience and the Outback was more to be able to see the different places.
While break was fun I am glad to be back in Sydney although I am sure that the last half is going to go by quickly. I begin my class in a few hours and my internship begins bright and early tomorrow morning when I get picked up at 6am (at least I am used to getting up early during my break since we would be up at 5:30 at the latest).
