Interesting stuff. I am familiar with the sorts of tests you mentioned, and as hard as they are, I really value the layered problems of high-level physics tests. Unfortunately, better tests come at some expense in time or money, which is why the smaller, upper-level classes will have the better tests. On the level of undergraduate education or certification exams, better tests will require more money from you, another blow to the ambitious but often poor community college students.
Also, I'm glad to hear that after your worries about apathy and the inability to handle the problems of your own life (expressed in earlier posts), you have risen well to the demands of college. The order is mixed up for you, but I think the responsibilities of college are a good preparation for the responsibilities of a fully adult life.
"Dude fell short of 60%, which is by anyone's standards bombing out on a test."
Well, not by graduate school standards. A seventy-five I made on a midterm this semester was the highest grade of the class.
"Those of you who've talked to me in person have probably seen how I squirm when you try to stick the Krinn You Are Smart narrative on me (or worse, my reaction to Krinn You Are Pretty or Krinn I Love You)."
Um, sorry to be rude, but it insults their affection to call the reassurance a narrative.
