People don't watch bicycle racing. They don't get it - it's hard to get excited about something that goes on with little change for 100 miles, or that has team tactics that just aren't obvious to the newbie. That's fine - I can't stand to watch NASCAR either. On the other hand, football, baseball, NASCAR, and a dozen other fan-heavy sports have great advertisement going for them, and even as much as I hate football I know that the commercial can get me pretty pumped up about a game.(Which I won't watch, because there's still a part of me that knows that playing a pickup game is fun, but watching a game on TV still sucks)
Well, there's a new bike race up in Dallas. It's put on by a couple of clubs, one of which is nominally based here in Austin. It was a big successt this year, and as a result will get put on again in 2009(September). Never mind that it's Pro-racers only, and out of town, I'm excited right now. Why? Because someone finally got it right and put together an exciting ad for a bicycle race.
