I appreciate my French heritage, so I found Bill Maher's piece on the postive things American politics could take from the French hilarious.

As a side note, does it bug anyone else that the possible first female president is a former first lady? My opinion of this may be clouded because Lurleen Wallace, the only female governor that my native Alabama has had, was the wife of George Wallace, and was essentially a puppet while he ran the government. She was hardly a shining example for feminists to adore.
I think Senator Clinton is qualified, intelligent, and would make a perfectly competent president. And really, I don't see much difference between her entering the presidential field because of her proximity to President Clinton and Al Gore doing the same thing in 2000. I guess it just irks me that the first female president won't have been completely self made, but that may be unreasonable in this day. Certainly, the current president isn't a self made man.

And perhaps I really would rather see a world where husbands and wives work together as a team for their betterment both professionally and personally.   Which brings to mind questions about the Clinton's personal relationship, which brings us full circle to Bill Maher's piece on the postive things American politics could take from the French.
