Much Merlin Anxiety
Argh! Youtube's been cracking down on uploaded Merlin eps! I kind of had a feeling this would happen eventually but I was hoping it wouldn't until at least the end of the first part of this season *sighs* I'm sure people will continue to upload but it'll mean having to view it fast before it's blocked and possibly purged accounts (which, really, as much as I would like to see the show sooner, I don't want to at the expense of others). Well, at least I got to see the premiere.
I know there's probably a myriad of reasons why a show can't be shown in multiple countries at the same time but I really wish it were possible. I wouldn't mind the wait so much if it wasn't so hard to avoid spoilers and squeeing and all those things that make you realize what you're missing out on. And, yes, I know there are ways to download eps but I'd rather not go there. Call me a prude about these things all you want but what with all these illegal download laws getting harsher I'd really rather not tempt fate.
But I'm liking this season thus far. I've heard people complain about there being no character growth in this show but there has definitely been character growth in the first two S5 eps alone. Arthur comes across as a lot more mature and Merlin a lot more assertive. Plus Gwen - I'm really loving Gwen. Sneaky, sneaky Gwen. And Morgana - holy cow, that girl is crazy and the actress is doing an awesome job of it. I'm also really loving the darker tones. Now all I need is some awesome Merlin whump and I'll be so happy I'll probably explode :D
I do kind of miss skinny Merlin a little. I do like that Colin's filled out (because I refuse to say bulk up. He's not bulky, he's slender, dang it!) because he needed to put a little meat on him, which isn't something I say often. But considering how skinny he was, especially in season two... yeah, he needed some filling out. But while on Colin it looks awesome (because while he's not so bony anymore, like I said, he's still slender, and slender guys are hot), on Merlin... I've been kind of iffy about it, I don't know why. Maybe because I'm so used to skinny Merlin that it's hard to reconcile bigger Merlin? Or maybe Merlin's look (his clothes, hair style, etc) doesn't really flatter him quite as much when he isn't skinny. I don't know. Not that I think he's ugly! Oh heck no. I think it may be that it's just weird seeing Merlin not so skinny anymore *shrugs*
It has made me curious, however, as to whether he gained weight because he was tired of being skinny, gained it because he was asked to or all of the above.
