I loved it **sniff** I have a soft spot in my heart for vets, particularly when they are homeless....even more so when they are Sheppard. The final part really got to me.....so many waiting to hear from them...so many afraid to return
I've always wanted to write something with Sheppard as a homeless vet, but it always makes me so darn sad for him. I have one other idea, not so much with Sheppard as a homeless vet, but as a soldier on sick leave with no place to go. But that is all I will say ;) I plan to hopefully write this within the next few months, before Christmas, as it's a Christmas story that has been stewing in my head for two years now, I think. It's about time I wrote it.
**sighs** YES, an equally sad case...because like the homeless vet, it happens....... Both are hard to deal with because we just care so much about him. I think it was why we were so affected by Det. Sheppard in VEGAS
Thank you:D What I love about AUs is the challenge of letting the characters stay who they are despite living a totally different life. That includes keeping as much of their past as possible.
Oh, lovely! I am not usually a reader of AU fics, but have found myself reading and really enjoying a few lately. Maybe it is because I have come across some that, like this fic, are just sooooo right in terms of the characters that they are too good to pass up.
Kolya was a surprise to me at the trial and a great touch. The ending was beautiful.
Thanks! :D I'm not normally an AU fan, either, as most read as original fic. But when the characters are very much themselves no matter the universe or time period, then AUs are incredibly fun.
Thanks! There was a time I would avoid AUs like the plague. Now, it seems, I've caught that particular plague :P I think the fun of it is to put them in a different place while keeping them who they are. I actually enjoyed Rodney as FBI, because it's not something I normally would see him doing.
I have been considering a sequel. But with my muses being jerks... I mean... fickle, I can't promise anything.

I thought that if a soldier on sick leave had nowhere to go he could stay at a base. Is that not true?
