A saying I won't look at the same way again

"As difficult as pulling wisdom teeth."

20 minutes from sitting down in the chair until the first one was out, of which the dentist was called away for 5-10. A few stitches, and then the other one went as well. 1 hour from entering the office until leaving.

(Of course, they're yanking my other two in three weeks, we'll see how I feel about it

Just remember: the thing you *don't* want to hear is "oh crap, it shattered. We will need to pull out one piece at a time. Hang on, I will give you more anaesthetic." Trust me on this.

Actually, they split the one in the lower jaw in two.

No, what you don't want to hear is "Can you get a more experienced dentist here" followed by "what food can we give your baby?" followed by "oh crap, we ran out of time slots, can you come back friday to get the last pieces out?".

Hmph. When it was my turn they knocked me out, and the next thing I remember is being laughed at by the nurse because I'd spilled water all over myself while attempting to swallow pills.

At least they got all four at once.

I just got a couple of shots of local anaesthetics and then, once those wore off, I bought a 20-pack of 500 mg OTC paracetamol tabs. Have taken two so far.

In my case the wisdom tooth on my jaw had to be cut to pieces, pulled out one bit at a time in an hour-long surgical operation done under local anesthesia. The smell of sawed enamel and tooth bone is horrible, as is the high-pitched sound of the saw.

For someone whose phobia includes both dentists and needles, this was possibly the most torturous hour I've gone through in my life so far...
