Went to the AMC to see Peter Jackson's King Kong with
crazy_craig.
Train -
The one I wanted was cancelled so had to wait for the next one (no problemo -arrived in Brum at 1ish). Got off at Moor St Station, and went into the Pavillions. Then got my weekly bus ticket from the TWM shop (still £11.50, prob will be £12.50 when I buy the next one at the end of next week).
After leaving Pavillions, made my way to WH Smith and got my mags: SFX, Buffy/Angel Yearbook and Empire (issue 200). Headed to Snow Hill Station. Kept texting Craig on the way. Found out he was at that time at Nostalgia so we decided to meet at the cinema.
I got the 2 tickets using my bogof voucher. Next time for Narnia Craig should / will use his. Waited for him (AMC box office clock was 5 to 7 minutes fast).
KONG IS KING
Orange ad: Patrick Swayze. Thought the current one is John Cleese? Trailers of interest - M:i:III, Superman Returns. (already seen online).
The movie was over 3 hours long. V entertaining. Set in 1933. A film maker wants to shoot his new picture on an un-discovered island - Skull Island. The film starts off in '30s New York. Then half an hour or so on the ship. The island stuff takes up most of the movie. Back to '30s NY with Kong.
Shit loads of dinosaurs. Reminds me of the Jurassic Park movies. Also a lot of bugs / cockroaches etc. A lot of the crew get killed including Andy Serkis's human character (he also did Kong's body movements).
The VFX looked realistic. It seems a bit too violent for kids esp with the dinosaur stuff. Wasn't too much blood, but lot of scars. Well worth seeing it.
