Night out
Mark had a departmental banquet dinner tonight and he invited me to come along (!!) (just kidding), so we had a nice night out together. One of the good things that came out of Mark's surprise trip to the hospital was that we found that Kira could deal with us being gone better than I had hoped. Kind of an extreme way to find this out, but still, good news. So, I now feel comfortable letting someone else put her to bed and let us go out for a Night On The Town. Woot! Yeah, yeah, I know - only took me two years to get comfortable. But as you may have noticed, I am a cautious person.
Anyway, the dinner was yummy and the cream pie was divine. I met some nice people and got to hear a singing group for entertainment. And it was all free. Including the babysitting because we have some awesome friends - Kira and Harland. (We end up calling her Big Kira or Miss Kira when the two Kiras are together.) Kira and Harland are both MDs so we feel infinitely comfortable that they can handle any emergencies that come up.
Kira and Harland have both charmed Kira. Big Kira was previously known as a good person because she cancelled all of her Saturday stuff and came to babysit little Kira while Mark was in the hospital. A more awesome person would be hard to find. But I digress... Harland charmed Kira first by spending some time watching her jump. (It's not hard to charm Kira.) But then he beboxed for her. (Forgive me if I've spelled that wrong - it's the background mouth noise rappers make or so I've be told.) It was reported to us that Kira really liked Harland as a noise maker. Sounds like they had a good time.
