Oscar Grant was murdered. He was subdued, handcuffed, belly down, held down by 2 cops on a platform. He exclaimed, "please don't shoot me, I got a kid, please don't shoot, PLEASE!!!" The man who killed him, Johannes Mehserle, had no right to taze him. Tazers are to subdue, not to inflict pain punishment. Mehserle chose to pull his gun, cock it, and kill a man in cold blood.
This verdict is bullshit, the jury was bullshit, Mehserle's attempt to flee across State lines was bullshit. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury FU.
Judge, you are our only hope - please give the full sentence and don't allow charges to run concurrently.
I hope this results in a law which cops' badges are equipped with non-optional recordings of video and audio and that killing of people (especially those already handcuffed and held down) is no longer acceptable.
I don't believe in the death penalty, but I don't believe Mehserle deserves to live free in America. He should be in a jail labor camp.
