sweaty hotty mcdrippypantsness

it's still entirely too hot.

my poor diet, it's gone to hell and back with this weekend's heat. on saturday, my diet consisted of pizza and vodka; yesterday was leftover pizza, a hot dog, and an oreo blizzard. I'd go to the gym today but I think I'd keel over with heat stroke.

I drove my mom to work this morning, which was difficult not because I don't want to help her out, but because I had a terrible time falling asleep last night. besides the heat, I had a troubled mind and wasn't quite tired enough from a day spent just lying around. the extent of my productivity yesterday was that I wrote two essays for my lit course, and drew. I also read the first three chapters or so of little women, which is good for now, but will probably get sad sooner than later. (don't give it away for me if you've read the book/seen the movie!)

so, I drove to bed bath and beyond at 8:30 this morning, going off of less than 5 hours of sleep. then I came home, read for about a half hour, then had to go back out to go to a doctor's appointment. I'm on standby today because, if the saturn is fixed up today, I have to drive dad downtown to go pick it up. yay for me!! (//sarcasm)

omg, animaniacs season 1 is on dvd this tuesday. do you KNOW how much rapture that brings me?! I've been waiting forever for that cartoon to be released. it's such an underappreciated show. I wish warner brothers was still making cartoons like the animaniacs, freakazoid!, and tiny toon adventures. they all had those silly looney tunes-esque jokes and gags, and were really rich because they took so much from animation history. and, there was as much in those shows for adults as there was for kids, especially for us animation gurus, who had some jokes specifically aimed at us. those were the days...

speaking of high quality animation, I also just got the ren & stimpy lost episodes collection last week, which was another dvd I waited eons for. the set includes all of the ren & stimpy adult party cartoons that were aired on spike tv, plus three more that never made it to air. some of them are pretty twisted and super gross, and all I can really enjoy in them is the animation quality and the unabashed lack of censhorship, but some of them are real gems- particularly "altruists" and "naked beach frenzy." plus, there are introductions from john k and the crewmembers, which I eat up raw with my craving for behind the scenes know-it-all.
if nothing else, the episodes have to be respected for their artistry. yeah, I know that an ugly transsexual cat and angry chihuahua aren't really the embodiment of fine art, but ren & stimpy and the spumco crew have the art of animation mastered to a science. even if I don't like a certain episode or joke, I still find myself rewinding the frames to study the movement.

oh, such a nerd I am. but I sure love that stuff.

sano is mewing for me, and though it's too hot to play, I think we might have a little snuggle and perhaps take a catnap together.

weather, animation, nerdiness, insomnia, cars, cartoons, food, school, summer
