a very discouraging time of life punctuated with ocassional moments of splendor

....and that pretty much sums it up.

I am still horribly ill. everytime it seems there might be recovery, I lose it again. today was by far the worst since being back in la.

but, let's discuss some other things first....

1. austin wrote more of his song for me!! I'm lovin it... and not like horrible mcdonalds food, either.
2. austin picked me up from the airport on sunday and brought me (gasp) a dozen red roses. so romantic is he!! ^^
3. ashley gave me the best present ever. no, seriously. it's a black hoodie sweatshirt with magenta and pink iron-ons... the front says "el kreetonio fantastico!" with a big star in the middle, and the back has another big star on it. the right sleeve has more stars that fade from magenta to light pink, and the left sleeve has "kreetonio fantastico" in japanese katakana on it. and it's so fuzzy soft and warm and comfy, and I love it so, and she made it herself!! :D
4. I got a pink case in the mail for my ipod, and a paycheck too.
5. my animation 360 class, interactive animation, is AWESOME. we're learning flash and will make flash movies and games! also, in my 3d class, we're learning maya. a field trip to EA games, which is down the street from school, is very probable because both of my professors are in the video game industry.

and that's about it.

now....today.

I've been sick for a week now. the flu seems to have left over the weekend, but I'm still suffering with aftermath or something. I still have yet to eat an actual meal. and I still am dehydrated, despite the fact that I'm drinking water, and I get nauseous a lot.

today I had three classes. the first one was fine. after that class, I ate a little bit of jello. and during my second class, I felt like I was going to die. my stomach hurt so bad and I felt so faint and dizzy. I felt like I had to throw up, but I knew that if I got to my feet that I would pass out. when I went to my other class, 3d animation, I knew I was fading fast. my friend steve offered to call public safety to come get me, because I knew for a fact that I would never survive the walk back to my room.

public safety came and got me at 2:00, while we were on break during class. I was lying in a heap by the door, shaking with chills. they loaded me into their car and drove me to the student health center to be examined.

I was admitted as an emergency walk in patient and examined promptly by two doctors. I felt so sick I couldn't even sit up....I had to be lying down.
they took my vitals both lying down and standing up. I had to be supported while I stood, because as soon as I got to my feet, the corners of my eyes went black and I felt my legs wobbling.

they moved me to another room and immediately hooked me up to an IV. they started to pump 2000mL of water sodium chloride into me to rehydrate me. but when the doctor tried to poke me to insert the needle, it took her 20 minutes to find blood... when she poked me in the vein, I didn't even bleed. she and I were both shocked.

so, I stayed there from 2 to 6:30 getting the IV treatment. and I started to get real bad stomach pain while I was there. I ended up feeling worse....

...and I'm worried. and I want my mommy. and I'm glad I get a long weekend to have austin with me this weekend.

*sigh*
I should sleep. sleep is good. and codeine is good. and I hope I can eat soon.....

lists, austin, illness, lmu, medical adventures, ashley
