my meeting with spongebob squarepants

Feb 17, 2004 12:19

yesterday was sooooo busy. I went nonstop from 12:30 to 10, having no breaks except for about 15 minutes around 4. one cool thing that happened was I got TWO cards in the mail-- real mail!! one valentine from my mom, another from my aunt- and my aunt sent me $20! I'm gonna get her an lmu note card and send her a nice thank you note. I'm lucky to have such thoughtful people in my family.

that's something I'm gonna try to focus on a lot more. every day, I want to think of what I'm lucky to have, instead of get bummed over what I miss or don't have or wish I had. of course, it's a lot easier to be thankful for stuff when good people like aunt joanie do something they completely don't have to just to be nice. it's like a big reality check, being like, "see? see how good you've got it?" I'm glad I've been sending out so much mail to my family lately.

the rest of the day was pretty blah. in drawing, our live model was covered in tattos, all over her body. one of them went from her ankle, wrapped around her thigh, went up on the side of her ribcage, and wrapped around her arm on the same side of her body, with dragons licking flames and thorny roses and stuff. it was cool. she also had a gigantic gold nipple ring. always an interesting experience, having those live models.

the real good part of the day, though, was going to the lecture with van partible at the johnny bravo premiere. apparently, van doesn't teach here anymore- he quit a few years ago- but he's a grad of lmu, and he knows all these famous people. the lady from lilo and stitch was there also, but I was all over the tom kenny part of it. he did the spongebob laugh for us! he told all these great jokes, and was just fabulous. they all had such wonderful things to say and had such good advice. apparently, johnny bravo was van's senior thesis, so he was stressing the importance of the student film. it was really inspiring.

at the end of the discussion, I went up and waited for a turn to talk to tom kenny. he was signing spongebob printouts and the spongebob pillow for the animation lab and spongebob posters. I brought my fleece spongebob hoodie jacket, and he signed the back of it! it says, "ahoy, kristen! think of me on laundry day! [signed,] tom kenny 'spongebob'"!!! I also got my picture taken with him. I talked with him for a while, telling him how badly I'd always wanted to do animation, and he was telling me how cool he thought that was, and how he'd always wanted to be a voice actor, and we kinda bonded briefly over the fact that we were two people who were living our dreams. it was so inspiring.

I was completely exhausted from the day and spent the rest of the night fawking around online. I stayed up until almost 2. I have no idea when my compy-obsessed roommate went to bed, but she was up forever.

today I have to work from 1 to 3, and then I get to see mary. we're going to be pretty together and maybe snap some photos and be all vogue. my history class was cancelled today, rock fucking ON, so I've got all day to take care of my random shit and play and do some work and call me mum and such.

austin's car is in the shop for a little while, so he's walking on foot all over monrovia. po' baby. feel it hon, feel the crippling immobility of my daily life!! sucks, don'it? but he'll have it back in 2 days or so, so it'll be okay. it really needed to go in anyway.

birth control is helping me out with my period quite a bit, it seems. my cramps have been practically non-existant. it completely snook up on me this month, too. oh well... sunday and monday are the best days to get it. that way, it doesn't interfere with the weekend. hinthintnudgenudgewink.

one of these days I'm going to turn in to a bagel. I'm hooked on toasty bagels from the lair.
and I bought one of those chilly little starbucks frappachino thingies today, persuaded to do so by the fact that it said it was vanilla flavored. but I hate coffee, even cold coffee with vanilla, and now I don't know what to do with it. it made me feel like a bad seattlite. (but I'm not.)

well. off to work soon, for a whopping 2 hours. meeeeeeeh.
I'm wearing the pants austin gave me today... heehee... lookame, I'm wearing my boyfriend's clothes!! :3
