Another Goddamn Cliche Poem About Darkness

Apr 30, 2008 20:23

The shades are pulled tight
like a friend before a fright
or a fiend before a fight
good for shutting out the night

In you there is a Different darkness,
not a jailer, instead harnessed,
not shut out, but shut in,
by muscle and beauty and skin.

You let it all flow out
through a shivering mouth
mingling with precious air

It poisons me
plagues my soul with disease
and you
haven't
the
slightest
care.
