another year of pi!

Mar 15, 2008 23:28

today was spent roughly:

eat some pie, do dishes till drainer and hanging basket (and anything else that looks like it could hold drying dishes) are full of clean dishes. putter about on internet/cleaning bedroom/folding laundry/doing taxes. repeat. I also took a break to see the horton movie. *)

So, now i'm done with my taxes and i'm going to go see Eddie Izzard on Jul 18th! go me!

i suppose you'd rather hear about the pi party? well, it was a success!

attendees: roughly 44 people showed up. i invited ~66. i tend to get a 50% turnout, but this year it fell on a friday, so that worked well

pie eaten (approximate amounts):
    pie i made!
  • 4 turkey pot pies (and still leftovers. yum!)
  • 1.25 pans of spanikopeta
  • .6 apple pie(this came out super late, i'm impressed as much got eaten as did. this pie is super yummy, but requires 4 hours from start of baking to eating.
  • .75 blueberry pie
  • .85 caramel custard pie
  • .85 strawberry lemon pie
  • .85 key lime pie
  • .75 coconut cream pie
  • 1.75 pumpkin pie- the recipe from the back of the can, except brown sugar instead of white (and a bit less) and up the spices. oh, and one pumpkin pie had a gluten free crust.

    others donated to the cause!
  • 1 large cheese pizza pie
  • 1 large cheese pizza pie
  • 1 spinach/red pepper quiche. this disappeared super fast.
  • .8 blackberry/raspberry pie
  • .9 pecan pie (and finished by yours truly for breakfast)
  • .75 double cream lemon meringue.
  • .75 cheesecake
  • and i think 3 people brought apple pies? i don't recall how much got eaten.

people who click on the recipes might notice that a large portion come from king arthur flour. ironically, none of the flour used was made by king arthur, and i used betty crocker's recipe for pie crust(i'm all for trying new crust recipes- but of the 9 kinds of pie i made, i'd only made 4 before, so i wasn't willing to experiment too hard.) maybe in the future i can get them to sponser pi day? *P

casualties:
1 small cut while washing dishes on tuesday, one burn, and 5 lost pie crusts. luckily all the pie crusts didn't take out any pies with them, so they were easily replaced. oh, and one for the cats decided this week would be a lovely time to pee on my giant bean bag chair/couch thing. lovely. the smell seems to be gone, hopefully this doesn't become a habit.

i started cooking on tuesday and spent 4-6 hours a night cooking. phew.
