Where Tara's bumbling shines through once again

I accidently called 911 today. I went to dial my mother's number which starts with 9, and immediately after pressing the 9 I realized I would have to hit 1 first since I was dialing from a landline. Clearly my brain works too fast for my fingers, as I hit the 1 before hanging up. I was using the speakerphone function and I guess my hangup time was not sufficient to actually hang up, when I opened the line again and started to dial (starting with 1 again) I found the number was already ringing. Believing that the "91" i had dialed had somehow gone through, i quickly hung up, counted to 10, and dialed my mother. Right after hanging up the phone it rings, and the Police Department wants to know what the emergency is. I turn bright red (still over the phone mind you) and explain my error. Of course they have to send someone over, and then I get to look foolish for nice policeman. The worst part is that this isn't the first time I've done this. When I was 5 or so I tried dialing my grandmother's house; her number was stored in Memory-1 on the phone. Well, my 5 year old fingers managed to hit the fire station button instead of the 1, and I talked for a few minutes to some scary-sounding guy who was not my grandmother, and also didn't know where she was. And so I hung up the phone and a few minutes later there was a firetruck in the front of the house. Mother dearest was none too pleased, and since then I've had a "thing" about phones, especially making phonecalls to people I don't know, and especially business/official type calls. So when you hear me rambling on your voicemails, or not maintaining the correct phone-etiquette, now you have some backstory as to why.
