looking at you

I see my past

re-emerging into the present

mistakes reinvented

fears reignited

will we too become a memory?

something to look back at

as another relationship

grows dim

In truth

I've grown to dispise you

the way your words

leave me looking down

upon myself

my confidence disenterating

beneath your shadow

your touch has turned

into a punishment

instead of offering the comfort

it once possessed

I feel possessed

as you monitor my every move

yet still I can't move on

I feel trapped

stuck between the love I remember

and the numbness

that consumes me

you keep leading me along

like a faithful puppy

on a leash

but I've contracted rabies

and the rope that restrains me

is about to snap

I'm about to snap

back to reality

seeing the reality

of where we are headed

the road looks dim

and a dead end sign

is showing in the distance

please turn around

before the darkness

swallows us

with star glazed eyes

as if I am the answer

you've been seeking

but you fail to question

because the answer

might not be

what you desire

do you really see me

or the facade I hide behind?

will you turn away

once I reveal myself?
