dude, i am not a very political person but i cant not WAIT until our generation is running things. the people in power now just seem to not know anything about the laws that they are passing. My sister was telling me about how they are goign to have to contact the person who is now living in there old house to ask them to forward mail because if the city finds out that alexus and anthony no longer live in the district that their school is in, they will be removed from the schools they have been gogin to for years and dropped into a school in their district. They passed a new law that stopped a transfer program that allows students to go to schools outside of their district. that SUX!!!!! because both alexus and anthony will end up in really bad schools (if amy says theyre bad, theyre bad). And its NOT fair. Why should a child's education suffer because they happen to live in a certain part of town? A little boy in anthony's class has been going to lowe since he started school and tomorrow, he will no longer be enrolled there because they are making him change schools because of the district he lives in. Changing schools is traumatizing for students when they change from gradeschool to high school and high school to college MUCH LESS for the younger kids who have to deal with how CRUEL young kids are to one another. it just amazes me that they are not going to allow kids from bad parts of town to have the opportunity to go to the same schools as the kids from better parts of town. my sister thinks its segregation and i think that in some way it is. you are banishing the kids from certain neighborhoods (primarily black or white) and keeping them from branching out and meeting new people.
i havent been this outraged in a while...i think i actually might do a lot of research on the law and idk write to some old person who isnt going to listen to a damn word i have to say. ill get a typed up letter with a stamp of an address back saying thank you for your opinion, have a nice day. grrr....
